the arma2 mod was amazing, i spent many a weekend playing with a friend.

But how the hell did they manage to release a game in 2013 that runs worse in 2020 than a clunky mod

Literally the same, at least I got it by selling crates, cards and whatnot, but it still hurts to this day. That was my worst money spent on any game and it was like 8 years ago

it honestly would not surprise me.
as mentioned in they did release a new map and for an early access title with problems like DayZ has, thats pretty much just a cash grab to either keep the development running or to get as much money out of the fanbase as possible before shutting down.

At least it's not Reign of Kings level of fucked up.

been playing it recently with friends, its fine
ive only owned it a few months and ive played on modded servers and only ever with a group of friends but ive never had any problems with it, although we are playing on an RP server which I thought would be a bit shit, but it basically jus means people dont zap you from miles away for no reason and its been good fun so yeah id definitely say its enjoyable, as long as you have people to play with

let's face it, anybody still playing the game after all this time probably has developed some form of weird stockholm syndrome

I remember playing on servers where there were no zombies at all. Was that a test patch from the devs or was that a mod because the zombies were glitchy as fuck? I can't remember.
