The DLC is typical DLC. It's more of the base game mechanics in familiar scenarios. You won't be missing out on a whole lot, unless you really feel like playing lightly adapted parts of the original movie and a short new scenario that's not as compelling as the main game.

The base game can probably get you 15 hours first time through. Maybe 20 if you need to look at everything and are slow about progressing.

It's literally just a sneak/stealth simulator. Seriously, its extremely boring. Every wrong step is just an instakill and you restart from checkpoints. You'll get a flamethrower, and you think you'll get some combat, but lolno, its just to scare the alien back into hiding if you fuck up. You just stare at your wrist sensor and run when the coast is clear, enjoy the constant backtracking too.

The problem with PC now is that there is only digital distribution. Very few games come in CDs anymore, and while there may still be value in something like Half-Life's WON version via raw CD still being unique compared to the Steam version, the truth of the matter is that the time to fight back against this stuff is long, long gone besides getting DRM-free shit on GOG (and not all games on Steam have DRM either; if you know what you're looking for it's easy to buy small titles and copy them elsewhere to cheat the system because they don't rely on Steam to boot up).

There's a reason why some people still hold physical console copies with value, even if they're getting an inferior experience. But on PC, it's all digital and our only choice is what launcher we slap it on.

Its an 8 hours game stretched to 12-16 hours, it really drags on during the last 1/3 of the game

This only happens on the hardest difficulty. Even on Hard, you get 2 or hits from a Xeno before dying. Sounds like you weren't paying attention to your health meter.
