I love how fast Yas Forums did a 180° on this game and now it's pretty much Dark Souls 2 levels of hated.
Well, it's Yas Forums's natural contrarianism, as the 260 replies YIIK thread shows.

really? I remember during launch there was some arguing but after that everyone that talked about it liked it

I've been playing it again recently and it's alright, but it feels like it relies too heavily on everything Johanness can do.
Crafting, cooking, and enhancing are all based on RNG, and I don't think this was a great way to upgrade. Either droprates should be increased, or requirements should be lower. Or the ability to enhance melee weapons, other than the kickstarter backer weapons.

Wait when? I remember getting shouted off the rooftop for daring to say the level design is just OK. I still liked it, too.

Yas Forums has always had shit taste. Bloodstained is one of the best games of last year and one of the best Metroidvanias in years.

I only played it for Miriam.

Most agreed that the gameplay was mostly solid, but the graphics looked cheaper than they would have liked for what was a big budget indie game.
I enjoyed the game. 2nd IGA game I completed to 100%, but it's definitely not without its flaws.

It's nice with mods.

Yeah, I hate grinding for anything in a metroidvania, even if it's fun to play. It would take some of the satisfaction out of that rare moment of getting a shard on your first kill of an enemy, but it would definitely be mechanically superior to have to kill a set amount to get the shard. There should be enough chest drops to enough materials for an ultimate weapon.

Would also be nice if those weapons were actually useful for that matter, considering how much better shards are.

The graphics are a mess for sure. The game looks good in a handful of areas but overall it's very rough. I'm not against the 2.5D look but they fucked up by using UE4 and a team that had no idea how to use it.

I enjoyed it, but I still think it's the worst igavania

Last time I checked reception was from "it's ok" to "it's a true successor to SotN"

TIS RO - TIS RO - TIS ROSAIN

Not when HoD and PoR exist.

i love this game

Why preface bloodstained when its pretty much universally liked.

Best Igavania.

Portrait of Ruin definitely does not deserve to be that low, even with budget 00's anime look. I'll give you Harmony of Dissonance, though.

Giddy up!

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed PoR, but besides HoD it's the one I enjoyed the least. I didn't care for the character switching gimmick and the recycled environments sucked. Fucking top-tier bosses though.

For shits and giggles, I spent 30 minutes going back to the boat, the first area, and farmed out the fireball shard.
I didn't max it out, but I have it halfway upgraded in both ways. It one-shots most enemies point blank. Feels pretty good, and kills my headphones.

I'm still mad about the fucking train.
Somehow the hint about vampires using it got skipped for me and didn't know what to do for hours.
Also the spike breaker armor is flat out bad game design.

You forgot Aqua Stream.
My playthrough was a new save and I got there yesterday. I can confirm that not only is it not a guaranteed drop, but it took four kills to get it, which required me to know to farm those specific enemies and to leave the room and walk back in to get them to respawn.

Is this game still seven shades of fucked on the switch? I ain't heard anything about that port for a while now

I did too, but the loss of the roguelike dungeon update still hurts.

I think i figured it out by accident and thought i sequence broke. somehow

>Max fireball spell you get from boneheads early game
>literally melt every single boss without learning mechanics.
There were only 2 bosses that *almost* killed me using this method

It's good gameplay wise now but the visuals are obviously worse than other versions.

>get bunnymorphosis
>stomp on the dragon's head over and over
>get a medal for not getting hit
Which stat does this shard scale with? I remember it was either INT or MND.

Who the fuck hates this game? It's genuinely good.

Worst part is, I got aqua stream, checked it out, but figured there was no way that was the real way to progress, and spent hours trying to find the swimming shard

>boss arena has spikes on the ceiling to keep you from using the gravity shard
>equip spike immunity armor you are required to have to get there
>boss literally can't do anything to you anymore
10/10

TEPS OCEUS TEPS OCEUS TEPS OCEUS

Played for the music and the SOTN vibes. Wasn't disappoint.

yeah I figured that's be the case, I don't mind taking a hit to the visuals to play it on the go. I know there were some major performance issues a while ago, but if they've been ironed out I might grab it when it next goes on sale.

Luck does boost drop rates, the only real issue is that the biggest Luck boosts are sweets (cakes, pies, cookies, ect), the stat boost shard (that shows up over halfway through the game), the books (of which you are limited on what you can take, and the best ones are locked to map compleation or beating O.D. to hold all of them), or equipment (the best accessory for a good chunk of the early to mid game is the Stone Mask, a rare drop, and the best early luck hat, the Santa Hat, is in a secret room) that lack proper defense or other better stat boosts.

Luck does have it's upsides, if you lamp jump to reach Bloodless and fight the Dragon boss, you could get Void Ray and Dragon Eggs early. Also the Drinks recipes are absurdly broken and fairly easy to get, providing a massive boost to your MP Regen (the four drinks you can make give a +4 boost).

Getting the Silver Bromine in the first place requires you to remember about the jump you can't reach in the Towers. Then you have to do a bunch of back and forth to get the ID.
Then you get to figure out that Bloodsteal works on the blood fountain.
Then luck out and get Aqua Stream.
Then the Spike Breaker Armor.
Then get the Zangetsuto.

More than likely, you are going to kill Gebel well before hand, or at least get to the top of the castle cause that is so much easier and there are no tight spaces that outright prevent you from doing so, nor any reverse gravity bits.

INT, and the safe ring can be used to bump your defense even more, and if you don't care for Luck much, the Cursed Ring bumps your INT pretty high, and the INT Boost shard is available. All that stuff up above works wonders for Bunnymorph too, and there's a necklace that gives like a 50% damage boost for double MP drain. You can easily be hitting for 150+ damage by the time you get past the train.

INT, same as the rest of them. MND is magic defense.

Really liked all the little bits of detail they put in the game like the piano
>sit at piano
>Miriam starts to play it
>Sit at piano with the pink pixie familiar (forget what they're called) shard equipped
>the pixie sits on the piano and starts singing while Miriam plays
That still strikes me as a pretty neat little detail

>Stone Mask
I get those like crazy, but they look so fucking stupid.
I didn't check, but did they ever add an option to disable model changes? It feels so weird that they made an overdesigned design for Miriam, and then most of the small details get removed almost as soon as you start the game.

If you listen to the entire song you get an achievement

Die, titie bastard. Only newborn drinks it.

Juste game (CV4)

>still no mod to play as her
At least I can recolor the eyes yellow, the hair black, etc.

Hey hey man, i liked it to.

it was fine but its literally been 10 months and they still haven't released the first free DLC out of like 15 they promised. kickscammer as usual
