Lineage 2

Does anyone here play this game? I would like to try it.

I know nothing about Lineage (played it a decade or so ago, but in my memory it was just another MMO in the massive pile of grindfests that I used to play back then) but I used to love the artstyle and the elves.

There are people born after that game was created posting regularly on Yas Forums right now.

I'm also drawn by the elves first and foremost but I have also started becoming fond with the world with what I've seen. Saw a guy trying the game in YT in a Live Server and he was jumping levels in the tens, very quickly. Which is an obvious effort by the devs for the players to catch up. But still I am wondering where is the challenge in this game? Is it in PvP?
There are also Classic Servers, does it make a difference?

Come on, someone? Is this place filled with zoomers at this point? Is it over?

25yo boomer here, the game was always shit dont bother

As far I remember, the game was just grind and PvP. Classic server probably offer more grinding, I've heard a few people complaining about "modern L2" but that is fairly common discussion when years and years of updates are involved.
Honestly there are better ways to waste your time, L2 was only really popular in S.Korea for a reason. Just download a few wallpapers like we did a decade ago and move on.

shut up zoomer

it was the best mmorpg during his prime pvp wise, but just like any other had to die in order to appeal the blizzard audience

that's a really nice picture

I miss L2 but I would never play it again

Is it true that the leveling experience becomes less grindy with friends/other people? I've heard that everyone does it, but I'd like to level up solo too.

>where is the challenge in this game
Guild vs guild. It's very much a collectivism/prisonyard simulator. That was part of its draw, it was one of the last MMOs that tried to make a true persistent brutal zero-sum world before everything became instanced WoW themeparks.

It's a very old MMO, "painful solo experience" was the standard back then. Maybe shit is easier in the official "modern" servers, but I don't know much about them.

afaik nuL2 bears little resemblance to the original game, it's the epitome of f2p cash-in now from what I've heard, I'm doubtful it's worth playing

if you made a decent constant party you were able to reach max lv in a week or two(when cap lv was 99 official server) but this game has always been a gear based game and thats where the korean market begins. everything that turns your character into a "proper assist or DD" its only obtainable by cash store.. and the korean audience liked this, thats why their kr servers are still more or less alive. also like other user mentioned before they instanced the game

It wasn't p2w at the start but chinese adena farmers were such a problem and they royally fucked the economy to the extent where anyone trying to play legit was screwed due to currency inflation, this was probably the moment where Korea realized "hey why the fuck should we let chinks ruin our game when we can just ruin it ourselves"

I would also like to try it, but I legit can't find a link to download the game on NCSoft's website. All download links I can find just give me their launcher, which doesn't have LIneage 2 on it and only Blade and Soul because apparently you have to have a game installed to get it to appear on there.

If anyone can tell me how to navigate that fucking nightmare of a website and actually direct me to a Lineage 2 download link that actually gives me lineage 2, I will be very grateful.

So I was watching a decently-sized YT gamer trying this game for the first time in 2020 and his thoughts were:

Pros
>still has a decent pop
>epic castle sieges
>epic castle bosses
>cool looking armor/weapons
>huge open world
>one of the best mmo soundtracks
>race specific starting areas
Cons
>You can't jump
>out of date graphics and engine
>click to move, WASD feels really bad
>f2p/p2w
>character customization lacking
>grindy/bot style of game progression

Would you agree guys?

please, if you have more, post it

Sorry, mate, I'm just here because I recall jerking it to a PCgamer rag like 15 years ago.

This game had such a classy aesthetic (yes it made full plate thongs classy)
Shit like Tera and Vindictus just look crappy in comparison

yeah the Chinese farmers fuck the game, but even at that time, the was still playable, have you seen it recently? theres no reason to play support classes except for heroes because store has like 10 different items for evasions, dismiss targets or block damage, its really fucked up. not even mention it looks like a phone gatcha with all those "events" that are just store promos
>>still has a decent pop
>>epic castle sieges
>>epic castle bosses
you need a heavy amount of active players to enjoy those, and dont let videos fool you, there many people running around with more than 21 characters at the same time
>>You can't jump
this isnt a con
>>out of date graphics and engine
indeed, also gane runs like shit unless you have a monstruos gpu. thats why they are working on remake with UE4
>>click to move
this should be a MUST in every mmorpg

Unfortunately I don't have many wallpapers anymore, my old HDD died so I lost all my old elf pictures (I was really in love with eastern-styled elves back them, especially blonde and blue-haired ones).

I always wanted to play this back in the day, but I was hardcore into FFXI and I couldn't get both at the time.
Lineage 2 appeals to my lust for sexy elves like no other game.
Its a shame its so visually dated.
Lineage 3 when?

What is this?

I played on 50x exp rate private server and it still turned into unbearable grind in last ten levels or so.

All I remember about this game was the grind, laggy large-scale pvp and dark elf ass.

>yeah the Chinese farmers fuck the game, but even at that time, the was still playable
You either had to be pretty good at flipping stuff or moving big quantities of soulshot if you weren't in a strong guild
Which made things interesting imo, L2 back then had a really interesting dynamic with economy and politics, etc. I found it to be a pretty convincing microcosm of society, especially after I saw what was going on behind the curtain of top guild drama.

I see. Well, I guess I will give it a try in case it really does a click with me. Otherwise I'll drop it, sadly, because I'm not in the mood for p2w korean/gacha-like stuff.

Thank you very much.

>Lineage 3 when?
If I remember correctly, they had plans for L3 but project died many years ago and the resources were used for some other game (can't remember which one).
Now it's all about Lineage Revolution.

>What is this?
Lineage 2. "Gracia" is the name of a big update.

Those dark elf butts were some of my first cums back in 2003. Never played it though

You've got to give it to those Koreans though
They can make so truly aesthetic games with excellent-looking females like l2 or BDO

Korea is infuriating, they have so much potential in gaming but they ruin it consistently and are always getting worse: see Kingdom Under Fire

>BDO
Don't fucking remind me
