The game has always been fundamentally fucked. It started out as a console counterstrike that was outsourced by Valve because they gave zero shits and were working on Portal 2 and starting Dota 2. The devs at hidden path were assimilated into an internal team at Valve and the rest is history. People claim that the game has had "years of updates" to specifically fix hitbox issues but the gunplay is still incredbily variable based on game to game. Nobody has done the hard digging to find out what the specific problem still is, just things that contribute overal
>lack of 128tick servers for official mm. There is no logical excuse to defend this, Valve has MORE than enough money for the slight increase in server cost
>questionable weapon balance, can strafe headshot people with pistols from 10 meters away but can't hit headshots with m4 or ak as reliably when crouched and static (inb4 bad aim)
>outdated 32bit engine that hangs for 15 seconds regardless of pc specs when you change video settings (classic source) with netcode that is largely unchanged from CSS
The only thing that can save this game is if the source 2 update also introduces sweeping changes other than 64bit engine and nicer graphics. Fix the hitboxes, shake up balance and start treating the game like you give a shit and CS will live for another 10+ years.
But that won't happen. Have more skins and reasons to buy more crates and spend money in THEIR walled economy like a good consumer.
