the giant has slower reactions because the distance between it's brains and body is much longer than human's. the giant would be arguably weaker too. although it could squash a man easily, it would have to dedicate most of it's energy into just staying up. a proper human fighter could just slice it's ankles and finish the job.

You can technically play Barret as a brawler with tell of his six weapons in remake. It actually works well and stun locks a lot of enemies, you can eek out massive damage with him, especially playing as a tank/bruiser. His ranged weapons are ultimately more useful, though. He doesn’t do as much damage as Tifa but it’s not far, you get more crowd control and you can tank hits.
