There was mechquest but that died almost instantly, there was definitely a free section.
Dragonfable was fine until a certain point, I think after level 20 it required a one time payment.
They've always been on the one time payment model.

You can play Dragonfable as much as you want, its just some gear, quests, and half non base class skills are locked. But I'm pretty sure you can play all the main story.

Is it fun again? I used to follow the game weekly for nearly 3 years then I found out about trainers and got 500000000 gold but found nothing to use it on. The desoloth event was the grindiest shit and the dage vs nulgath event was underwhelming

Alliance of Evil has a few parts to it, and the most recent part just came out. Updates are still weekly, but they sometimes mix in holiday events between story events.

Man I used to play AQW religiously and spent upwards of 200 dollars on the game between membership and AC. Now I barely remember the game exists. I just remember the necromancer class letting you solo almost any boss lmao.

I think so? Players were mostly annoyed that he proves he is now the main villain by tossing the Hero the severed head of the Queen of Monsters. I personally believe that we will eventually fight and kill her, since Malgor says we did in his past.
FACT: Necromancer is the strongest class in the game!
