Reminisce about the golden age of mobile gaming, when shitty games were aplenty on mom's iPhone 3G and your 9th grade iPod Touch.

FUCK Angry Birds Seasons. Has one of the most bullshit levels ive ever seen
>golden age of mobile gaming,
that was snake II, bumper, space impact and bounce
is there a snake movie
>The very first era of smartphone games consisted of attempts at console-quality games with full fledged campaigns and multiplayer
>These were choked out by F2P and gacha games

Portable Ace Combat ripoff was the shit
It's unfortunate, but touch controls suck and most people aren't going to go out and buy a controller for their phones.
I used to wreck everyone's shit on portable COD ripoff unless the servers were padded with bots even back then
totally-not-Gears was fun too
can't believe this shit came out almost a decade ago
That's the thing, those early games were fun even with just touch controls. I still like playing FPS and racing games on my phone without a controller, touchscreen FPS are closer to PC shooters than console ones imo
I remember on rainy days in highschool when you werent allowed in the yard me and my buddies would all huddle in the corridors and play games on our friends ipod

Did you play Deadzone when it was online?
I still need to play that new esport-wannabe one sometime, I have a soft spot for madfinger even though they've gotten hooknosed over the years
Even the original Angry Birds is now riddled with ads, it's a chore to play nowadays

A 25 year old today was in 8th grade/freshman high school when ipod touch/Droid and games for them became a thing.
You're getting old.
I'm getting old.
I wish phone games stayed in this era sometimes.
I find ports really fascinating so I always enjoyed these. Some of them were actually very good conversions.
I always remember the hype around gta III getting ported to mobile around 2011 or something. I never played it because I thought it would suck on the tiny ass phone screens of the day, but it looked cool on iPads.
I still have little fantasies about a world where they stuck and phones were more akin to what the GBA was back in the day, where you could expect a demake of just about any popular game on it.
So basically the perfect timeline.
The worst part is that they updated a lot of these old apps to add micro transactions and other garbage.
who still plays these though? the only ones I see still getting played are candy crush and bejeweled.
>Bought angry birds when it was an app you bought (or pirated)
>Download it nearly a decade later, expecting olde tyme fun from my HS days.
>Microtransactions out the ass, all these spammy extra chapters with licenced characters
>It was just a complete game with a difficulty curve and an ending when I paid for it when it was new.
shut the fuck up, boomer
outboomer me if you can
>colour screen
Age of Empires 3 for Windows Mobile Standard, Diamond Rush, and Tower Bloxx were my favourite
2006-2012 Gameloft games were nice.
Golden age of mobile gaming was before smarthphones. I had fuckton of games on my sony erricson k550i and they were awesome.
Today mobile games are microtransactions shit with fake ads.
I remember an iPad game that I played in 2010 with friends which had split screen and let you play as aztecs, romans, chinese and other factions, you could recruit units and your aim was to destroy the enemies base. Does any user know this game?
Where can you play these old games? Are they lost to time? I wanna play that simpsons one where you're homer and everyone wants to kill you for some reason
that's not boomer that's just prehistoric and I played it too
These older games are usually much higher quality so I can see why people would stick with them.
>that time in the early 2010s journos tried to convince everyone that touchscreen controlls will replace controllers
will they ever learn?
well they will in due time thanks to zoomers. it'll all be mobile tier shit in 10-15 years
That tentacle boss in the last level was bullshit. It was a bullet hell and you had to dodge with these stiff numpads
>golden age of mobile gaming
I swear if you fucking zoomers dropped dead all at the same time nothing of value would be lost.
