I will try to summarize what we know for sure so far
Dont bet your money yet on one or the other, as we didnt see anything yet from PS5 camp except a controller and the technical video.
>performance and development
So far indeed the peak peak performance of the GPU is lower than the one of the xbox, thats a certain, but from what we're seeing,it might be so that its easier to use the 100% performance of the ps5 compared to the xbox considering the arhitecture. This is also the reason why alot of developers praise the ps5 dev kits now.
BUT, we're not devs to care about how easy or hard it is to work on a console,we're gamers, and we need too see the finished products, we need to see pixels and features working to see which one will provide us with a better gaming experience. If PS5 wont be 4k 60fps it will be the inferior console hands down. Thats the ground on which they should build.
>ray tracing
When it comes to ray tracing, most likely xbox will have the superior technology considering that microsoft has been working on applying this technology years before nvidia even popularized it with their RTX line, and considering that the xbox OS has similar cores of windows, and their API is developed with that in mind, most, also having the stronger GPU, will run better. My guess is that PS5 will mostly use some artificial ray tracing, best case scenario, or really good lights and shadows mapping
>The big talk about the SSD
Besides some exclusives that might actualy make use of the crazy speed, my guess is that it will be a gimmick and 3rd party games will just load abit faster compared to xbox
The thing here is how they are gonna utilize the SSD as additional memory, considering the speed it has, and how is that gonna affect storage, which is already quite low ( keep in mind that by the end of the generation we will have 200gb+ games )
PS5 wins at storage, but at what cost?
