I got a new 3ds for Generations (great) and Pokemon sun (whoops), i had plans to buy older games but never got around to it. What are some good ones? I don't mind RPGs and obsess over mech games

The 3ds is one of the easiest and best consoles to hack, it goes from a 4/10 to 9/10

Still not really better than a hacked Switch, it emulates better and by now its probably worth trading the 3/DS library for the Switch's

The Switch is pretty small, it's not that much larger than the 3DS XL, and it's a lot more comfortable than the 3DS (especially the original). The Switch is also much more powerful so it can emulate a much larger range of systems.

If i remember correctly you need a sd card, a jig, a special USB cable and have to setup the switch for every time you want to play with hacks, and it looks like the switch can't even handle Dolphin properly

Have you ever looked at the GBA library?
The first party presence on that design was actually pretty appalling in places.
There's no original core Mario title for the system, even the 3DS has NSMB2 and Super Mario 3D Land.

Sonic Generations on 3DS is unironically the best version
