Now that I'm done with OG Dark Souls, what should I play next? Heard you're supposed to skip straight to Dark Souls 3? Is that true?

No. 2 resembles 1 gameplay a lot more than 3 which is just BB without rally.

Play DS2 as a mage. It is a nice change from that autistic genre.

I enjoyed DS 2

so who was this?

Salt & Sanctuary was pretty good.
DS2 is fun with Hexes/Magic/Faith.

Heard Hexer/Dark builds in DS2 were good but collecting all the items/spells required etc is probably a huge hassle.

Who cares? DaS3 lore is completely meaningless

kaathe, he was supposed to break into the room in the twin princes second phase but they scrapped it last minute.

No, DS2 is the best one

What makes DS2 magic good is that you can make any weapon scale with your preferred magic stat using the infusion system. This means you do not need to spread your stats thin to be a spell-sword/paladin/etc.

meh, try 2 if you really want to, just remember it never gets any better

It does get a lot better once you level ADP.

2 is still worth a play for its novelty and interesting weapons/spells and understanding the kinds of problems people had with it. If anything, 3 is the one you should avoid, since it does barely anything original and is basically just Bloodborne but with a Dark Souls coat of paint.

oh right, there was that bullshit, too
I was mainly thinking of the locales, you start out in probably the best area in the game, and it sucks.

Dark Souls 2 will always be the retarded black sheep of the series

>and understanding the kinds of problems people had with it
this, really

2's worth a run desu, don't be like reddit

You've gotta admit it's a hilarious game though.

Play release order.

Correction, without rally or SOUL
Don't forget that you're walking on cobblestone or tile for 90% of that game.
Play BB if you have a Snoybox and Demon's Souls if you have a PSTriple or a competent PC.

This is the only right answer

>play DaS2 at launch
>Want to replay SotFS
>Doesn't ever go on sale with the other DaS games and remains $40 on PSN
Why

I would say to go and buy a copy from a second-hand store or something, but considering the whole quarantine thing, you're kinda shit outta luck.

SOTFS is always like $10 on a Steam sale lol.

I feel like there are easier choices for your first boss.

This.
But pure mage. No weapon and no shield, just magic and items. Fun as hell!

DaS -> DeS -> Sekiro/BB

DaS2 after DeS if you're into wrpgs, otherwise it and DaS3 are safe to drop.

>buy season pass
>that DLC isn't included
cunts

Not him, but should I go faith? I've done tons of INT builds in DS2 before and I agree, its a lot of fun, especially dual wielding that spell rapier. Never really tried Faith though.

What? The snoy threads lied to me?
They said PSN pricematches with Steam during sales! Why would they do that?!

I'm guessing you want to try Miracle only run? Never tried that, but from what I've seen (and read) it's just a pain in the ass.

Dark Souls 2 is far more enjoyable than Dark Souls 3. Dark Souls 3 has better gameplay and level design but it unironically has less Soul. And by that, I mean its less interesting, has less build variety and is not actually fun to replay because its so linear. DS2 has far, far better fashion options which alone makes it more fun to play through because each build can look radically different from another. Power stancing lets you experiment with a ton of different builds that just don't exist in Dark Souls 3 and magic is actually fun and not watered down.

Build variety and costumes>level design. It's the fucking truth.
