no. Her ex boyfriend made a wordpress site detailing how she's a complete psychopath and lied and cheated and manipulated him for years. The games press then immediately start defending her and smearing the dude. Then everybody realizes that the people at these sites are people in her friend circle.

In a nutshell:
some chick made a "game", it was mediocre, but won a bunch of awards, whatever.
Then her boyfriend makes some enormous blogpost that she slept with 5 dudes that directly recommended her game for those awards because of her fucking them. And when it was pointed out, instead of going "jeez that's scummy", people started screeching about how gamers are dead, gamers hate women, gamers misogyny etc etc. Anything after that was just a shitshow, the core of it was some slut slept with dudes for better reviews for her game, and how it was a scummy thing. It was co-opted by every different fucking organization under the sun on both sides, and doesn't matter.

That's not even true though. At best 1 or 2 of them gave her game a shout-out. None of them reviewed it.
