She is. And it's a big enough franchise that I don't think it will 100% die any time soon.

Did if they've been holding up on it for this long it's because they were probably going to fuck it up and had to start over. Had they kept going with the project we would've had another FedFarce/OtherMetroid spinoff with the Prime label.

I have a feeling they're working the basic feel for the game, once they have a vision then it's all work from there. It's all about having the creative stage done. They got some time.

What do you guys think the subtitle will be called? I'm pretty sure Sylux is going to be in it, no way they've done the post MP3/FedForce ending scene and have it mean absolutely nothing after. I can see these

Oh boy, reminds me of all those Twitch/YouTube guys, who intentionally overreact to trailers to lure in viewers, but immediately revealed they're fake fans when the big 4 popped up and they were like METROID FOUR? Also I cringe every time someone thinks it's funny to be like FANTASTIC FOUR, huh?

I feel like its going to either be in development hell until the next console release or it'll be literal vaporware. I don't think there has ever been a case of nintendo literally restarting a game's development from scratch because it turned out so shitty. Remember this is the same company that shipped other M. Its worrying that retro weren't making the game in the first place. What has retro even been doing since the most recent DKC?

I bet this exact same thing happens on a regular basis, but we never hear of it because usually Nintendo doesn't even announce games until they're close to release already.

Retro has been struggling since Tropical Freeze. Lots of internal problems with employees from what I've heard.

It's funny, ykno, that reveal had me so exited then so dissapointed, but I remember in 2015, watching the last direct of the year and watching the stars, I fucking JUMPED OUT OF MY SEAT saying "OH SHIT ITS METROID OH FUCK" to then see Cloud, which did got me a bit hyped after accepting it wasn't Metroid.
But then

That doesn't sound great for a game that already got scrapped completely and restarted. That's basically cemented my thoughts of it being stuck in development hell.
I honestly forgot that even got announced, its been 3 years and nothing still? Why are all the switch games I was looking forward to vaporware.

I feel bad for the guys that made this spinoff. Its not their fault that the fanbase had been starved of actual metroid games for so long that they wouldnt expect anything less than a mainline game. The game is actually fun

It kinda makes sense, though. Metroid has slept for over a decade now. Even missed its own birthday party. Now they Nintendo wanted it to return and the Switch was a big hit. Of course they wanted everyone to know that it's gonna be even bigger of a hit.

I'm not really sure whether we should consider it be stuck in dev hell. It certainly was in dev hell, but Nintendo forcefully pulled it out of there. Remember that the game as it was being worked on prior to be given to Retro was entirely scrapped. They won't reuse anything from it. No engine, no assets, no ideas. On the day where that Development Update Video aired, Retro basically just started informing their employees that Prime 4 is happening. And we have seen some progress since then. Not in the form of footage, trailers or pics, unfortunately not. But we have seen key positions within the development being filled with new and exciting people. Retro is definitely working on it.
You are correct. The game isn't bad. And it's no surprise, seeing how it's from NextLevelGames. They just landed yet another smash hit with Luigi's Mansion 3. They didn't deserve having the ungrateful burden put onto them to have to make a spin-off to a dead franchise. Especially since they initially pitched a proper Metroid game to Big N, but that was denied. I can't believe how many Metroid pitches have been denied by Nintendo.

This game is actually legit. It was released poorly but the game itself is fun for 3ds.

Snes sound lends itself perfectly to the atmosphere they were going for. Graphics work perfectly in harmony to create a really unique feel. Then the game itself is competently made, sprawling and relatively openly designed which was another unique thing at the time. But I think what super does best is the atmosphere, I think latee games like Zero Mission actually play way better.

Put their heart and soul into it.

I'm just curious if we're ever going to see what that version of Prime 4 looked like. It must have been a real pile of shit to not just get passed to a different studio, but scrapped entirely too.

Nah nothing like that, and mind you this is totally speculation on my part. Sega recently put out Bayonetta on PS4/XB1. Platinum Games is making a bid to snag the Wonderful 101 ip from Nintendo. I feel like the head honchos at Platinum are working with Sega to try and get Bayonetta away from Nintendo, that's why Bayo 3 has been totally in the dark.
