Why did Halo fans lose interest in the series?

It had its glory days and then 343 took over

343 is not bungie

turns out slow floaty console shooters arent very fun to play if it isnt your very first game on your very first console and you're 8 years old

>announce remaster
>fuckup the whole sound design
>drop feed the games to stretch release for a few years
No one will be playing when two or three releases

a series that should have actually had it's trilogy and concluded satisfactorily. would've been fine to milk it after that sure, but they elected to just milk it without ever giving it a satisfying tie up. other notable franchises that made the same mistake are assassins creed and gears of war.

i haven't, but i'm not touching the game again until the server browser comes back

Bungie stopped making them and the new company that took over wasn't very good at it.
Also the Xbox one happened and killed pretty much any brand loyalty for the rest of the decade.

it's hard for fans to stay interested when in the past 13 years they've gotten 1 mediocre game, 2 shit games, and 1 game that launched basically unplayable

People are literally drooling over infinite, don’t know what you mean
Snoyfag cope, Destiny is literally Halo reskinned and it sucks, so it’s safe to say Bungie probably wouldn’t have done any better and it’d just be Halo fortnite.

Yep, this is why Quake has stayed at the top of the FPS genre for so long! Quake 3 had peaks of literlly THOUSANDS of people playing and it still hits high single digits every few months!!

>Destiny is literally Halo reskinned and it sucks
No. Destiny PvP your gay ass character and their loadout matters. It's not like Halo where you pick up weapons and powerups throughout the map.
I would have bought Destiny if it's PvP literally was Halo reskinned, but it's fucking not.

Halo 3 came out in 2007, most of the people who played it as a kid have very likely moved on from games completely.

Halo’s multiplayer was a happy accident of missed deadlines, Bungie had bad ideas (even if their heart was in the right place) and borderline accidentally made an awesome series of games. Reach was a contractual obligation destiny tech demo that irreparably fractured the community. Halo 4 was a cynical grab for CoD players, and Halo 5 was an attempt to appeal to the worst kind of trilogy fan, the MLG 2tards.

tl;dr Halo is a fucking mess and real fans have been ignored for at least a decade.

if you weren't a zoomie you would know that it died while Bungie was in charge with Reach. I'll never forget those first few months in Reach's lifespan where the population plummeted to embarrassing levels for the series, despite there being 150K+ people online in Halo 3 just a few months earlier

>Buy Reach out of nostalgia
>meh it's a console shooter. Probably shit and I just remember it with rose tinted glasses
>It's still fun as fuck
>the story is still genuinely charming
>5 fucking BAJILLION game modes that are all legit fun as fuck
Why do we hate halo again?

Attached: shrug.jpg (554x439, 37.84K)

I lost interest the second 5 made me play as anyone other than Chief. No one gives a flying fuck about what's his face and there was no reason to shoe him in.

Because it turned shit

This isn't just asking about the new games, but playing modern releases of the old games right?

I just have no desire to play it again. I spent so much time in its gameplay loop I couldn't possibly have fun again.

Because it's been 5 fucking years since the last game?

>bungie developing Halo
>"people are having a hard time aiming"
>bungie slows the game down and adds auto aim
>"people cant dodge bullets"
>bungie adds regenerating health
and that's how the dark ages of first person shooters began of which it took 15 years for the industry to recover from

The campaign peaked in the first game and 2/3 despite being the best of their kind were never perfected and never replaced.

Halo is a unique game, the best methodical shooter. Quakefags will never understand.

This, plus Halo was never a lasting series in terms of multiplayer, each game always died when a new Halo game released, it was only a matter of time before it was dethroned, I just play the campaigns.

Reach's campaign sucked.

>CEfags are either PCfags in disguise or boomers
>2fags are MLG tryhard kiddies who miss BXR and superbouncing, or scalie/furfags
>3fags are normal, well adjusted people with enough grey matter to understand what is and isn’t progress in the Halo series, may or may not have left the series behind for good
>ODSTfags are either reformed CEfags who fell for the Healthpack and Pistol meme or oldschool lorefags
>Reachfags are spics and bungie fanboys, half of them left for destiny
>4fags are modern era lore autists and coomers
>5fags are CoD converts or “reformed” 2fags excited to play another jankfest that doesn’t play like Halo at a competitive level

>CE has the only “Great” Halo campaign, with by far the best level design, enemy engagement design and action/sci-fi plot. 2 is epic in scope, but unbalanced and unfinished. 3 is more streamlined, but blander. ODST/Reach are mediocre gimmick campaigns. 4/5 are overwritten and underwritten trash, respectively.

>For multiplayer, CE is arcadey fun, but the maps are a mixed bag and the spawn system is borked. Works really well in competitive 2v2 and not much else. 2 has God-tier maps, but the gameplay/sandbox itself is jank as shit. MLGtards liked it because you can buttoncombo your way into it not playing like Halo. 3 is the best overall, slightly too slow, but still solid maps, good samdbox and a fully featured multiplayer suite to enjoy custom games/forge. Reach is garbage with the worst maps in the series (ripped from campaign!). Introduces sprint, effectively killing the series. 4 is actually Call of Duty, almost universally despised. 5 is an Advanced Warfare inspired janky nightmare that 2tards seem to love for some reason, maybe the sweaty non-Haloness of it appeals to them.

>objective: survive
no

does quake and the other arena fps games atleast have a following, kinda similar to the FGC, like a bunch of devoted fans that keep showing up for tournaments and locals? thats what I heard atleast

This, this shit didn't work in 2, don't know why they tried it again in 5.

Yes, that just another garbage firefight moment.

Which is worse compared to CE's endless hallway?

who
the fuck
are you fucking quoting

I think its consensus that 343 is shit but I'm struggling to think of another studio that could make a good halo game at this point

This. I would've rather had good memories of Halo than what we have now.

The original Halo was essentially the evolution of original Doom. it helped revolutionize stuff in the fps genre but people lost interest over time.

It was only a problem when they made all health regenerative. In halo you were punished when you lost your shield, in halo 2 as long as you live there's no difference between taking a little or a lot of damage.

This is all true, but I'm afraid there are more spics on 5 than Reach at this point

>Halo was never a lasting series in terms of multiplayer
In the sense that populations die when a new game is released yet, but before Reach Halo had no problem holding huge populations for 3 years after release. Reach went under 100K after a few months, with temporary boosts for a week whenever dlc dropped. after 2 years the game had a pc eastern european title tier population

>the story is still genuinely charming
I played it for the first time when it came on PC and the story is boring as fuck.

Why did people lose interest retard? Maybe it was because Reach was shit and the next two games were even worse. Every game that tries to attract cod players fail.

>I'll never forget those first few months in Reach's lifespan where the population plummeted to embarrassing levels for the series

Dude that happened during halo 3, after Modernwarfare came out everyone ran for COD. I remember because I did too since it didn't take 2/3rds of a magazine to kill some one.

Attached: cuck.png (714x741, 77.26K)

Yes, CE changed it up.

343 is the only one.

They didn't, they still play halo 5 and will continue on halo infinite, cry some more bungiefag

Attached: 615.jpg (680x382, 34.94K)

>Why did people lose interest retard
I answered that already retard, It was influence for its time but new things came which surpassed it which is what happens to every influence thing.

/thread

Yeah, for one game, look at COD, a lot of players still play the old games when a new game is released, meanwhile Halo 3 is still available and no one plays it.

This. Halo is to Quake what Dark Souls is to Ninja Gaiden.

>3 fags are normal
Pfahaha, you guys left for COD.
>ODSTfags are reformed CE-
NO, never, not even in your fucking dreams. If you want some of the balanced gameplay I suggest trying the ye olde version of custom edition. Some of the best multiplayer you will ever, EVER fucking play. Pretty much like our shitty xbox connect halo we played.

Attached: 45980.jpg (1489x999, 615.1K)

This

3 has the best campaign but otherwise you are correct.

ok retarded boomer

>you guys left for COD
after 3? Yeah, because Halo 4 and 5 are just knock-off COD. Better to play the real thing. I prefer MCC though.

>best of their kind
Yeah, thanks for destroying dedicated servers faggot.

Attached: Tribes.jpg (1920x1080, 684.71K)

So you're just ignoring reach, which wasn't a halo game. Invalid argument

>I suggest trying the ye olde version of custom edition. Some of the best multiplayer you will ever, EVER fucking play
not with that awful hit registration, dumb boomer

i think you and me have different definitions of embarassing. if you logged into halo 3 at the end of 2010 you would still see 100-150K people online. for a 3 year old game id say that's excellent

ok coomer

Attached: 1587328957999.jpg (2404x1260, 826.51K)

>like clockwork a quakeboomer waltzes into a halo thread eternally seething

Halo was never good.

>Halo 3 is still available and no one plays it.

MCC?

>He needs autoaim
>He can't shot lead

Attached: Dothisnow.gif (785x439, 348.22K)

This is what zoomers actually believe.

well two games. halo 2 also held big populations for years, but it also had the advantage of not having much competition in the console space. but yes, cod, being a more casual game, appeals to a much wider audience so its no wonder that it beat halo, but halo could at least hold its own against it before reach

Is dead
