Demo is a token black guy but he's there to sort of make fun of the trope.
Amerimutts have been putting token characters in everything they make for decades.

Because the characters are all well-written, entertaining, and likable. The diversity is clearly only there for variety, not to make a point or anything.

They're characters first and weren't made to fill checkboxes.
It helps that the characters actually make fun of each other for where they're from. Makes them feel more real, you'd expect a bunch of military men and lunatics in the 50s to not get along and be a bit uncouth with each other.

Because the "diversity" is nothing more than a play on common stereotypes and none of them were added because of gender/racial diversity pressure, molding their character and weapons around a single theme with additive depth as the devs pressed on.

If TF2 were made today, it would be all the same forced shit you see in every other game that claims to be "diverse". This is also why we'll probably never get another Punch Out game because most people are retarded and think STEREOTYPES BAD

Because its only diverse in the sense that everyone's a stereotype. It's really not trying to be politically correct.

The characters are diverse in personality, as well as place of origin. And the game isn't trying to push any agenda either, it's just funny dudes killing other funny dudes.
