A lot of the commands are kinda like making pictures with the buttons.
Like pressing A X A Y A B for spread is like a claw spreading outward from A.
Or you have something like oracle's speed spell that would look like an arrow pointed to the right ->

I know, but I could never get into using controllers for this type of games since I never had a console.
I spent a good while remapping so that I don't need to move my fingers over different keys but the spell combinations don't really have much of a pattern now.
Guess I'll just have to deal with it and memorize all the combinations.

I'd rather not resort to that, it's a bit too much of a cheat. In the worst case I'll just play an easier character.

Seeing Empress and Copen in the same game they really do look similar. Wonder why

Someone at Inti has a thing for grumpy looking white haired people with a heaping dose of red in their color scheme?
Also Empress's clothes in Zero 2 look way more grey/silver in the top-down mode than her normal black.

Yeah, came out the same day as the DMfD 3.0 update.
She's generally stronger than Jason, but nowhere near as broken as Copen was.

To be fair, copen is just broken by virtue of his design. You can stick him in any game and he'll break it over his knee

Just the way Copen starts every level without the tank always made me laugh.
Well until Stranga came along and ruined the fun for a while.

There's more combat options but it's otherwise the same. Still, I really like Warrior's new Greatsword and the Bandit. Tons of fun.

Empress has been the worst and least enjoyable to play since launch. They refuse to expand on her moveset and make her any good. Why? She's the only design I like.

But they did, there's a whole new weapon category that changes her melee moveset.
It's not perfect but it does add some variety and maybe in a hypothetical sequel they could spread the moves out between the two; I'd love to be able to stinger and shoot downwards in the air with the normal sword moveset.

If you can't switch between the two mid-quest, it's just another gimped Empress, though. It's baffling that she has NO movement options if there isn't a meme hook in the boss room. How the fuck can they have a grappling mechanic worse than fucking super metroid and bionic commando. They're NES/SNES games, for christ's sake.

You can, just switch weapons since you have two slots.

The new light sword moveset turns her dragon shot into a movement option plus you can bounce off enemies once with the dragon sword, also the stinger has invincibility so you can go to the other side of a large boss.

You have to open up options > check equipment and then you can change weapons, no?

Empress is still Empress, even with a new moveset with more movement options one tap from a boss will still kill her dead and burn through your lives in solo play.
The bright side is the new characters have revived the online for now.

Depends what you mean, did you only play back during release? If so the game is now tolerable all the way through the story, post game and dlc is still a shitshow though.

Why the FUCK can't her grapple just hook to walls or ceilings? Fucking WARRIOR has more movement options. Ninja is just good Empress, it's total ass.
