How come I barely hear about this game anymore? Thoughts? I'm thinking about getting it.

I enjoyed it a lot. Don't expect Soulsborne quality, but it's a solid game.
it's fun enough, kinda comfy. a little on the easy side for a souls-like, and the level and boss design is kinda bad but the blood code system is cool and it has a nice atmosphere.
you probably dont hear much about it because apparently the dlc sucked
It's a fine game. Try out the demo before buying it.
No PvP and the DLC was a complete wash.
Dlc was disappointing from what I've read, loved the base game though.
/vg/ effect. Major discussion on Yas Forums has ended and the people who still want to talk about it moved to /vg/.
most people only played it for the waifu character creator. they probably spent more time in character creation then actually playing the campaign.
>apparently the dlc sucked
It didn't suck, people just didn't like how little content there was for the price and that they reused models in it. It would have been praised if it was a free update or had a cheaper price tag.
The three bosses in the dlc are much better than anything in the base game by a large margin and the depths maps are actually good despite the absolute trash that the rest were in the base game.
People just expected some massive story expansion despite the fact that we were basically told they were depths maps since we learned about them being Aragami, or they simply jumped on the hate train again because they're the worst types of Souls fans.
It's alright
Its good, not great, really hard without a partner sometimes, a cakewalk with them, dlc sucks dick.
Thought it was great. Great soundtrack. Fun characters. Combat is silky smooth. So's the framerate. Good weapon variety. Doesn't really require much grinding. Genuinely felt like I'd played a good game when it was over.
Echoing what people already said, it was a pretty good game. Not Souls or Nioh quality, but still a pretty nice Souls-inspired ARPG. My only complains is that it is a bit short than the average Souls-like, the terrible online netcode (to this day is still region locked) and it lacks weapon and veil (armor) variety. Still, one of my favorite games of 2019, a pretty good year for games.
Haven't tried the DLC yet so I can't give my opinion about it.
If you're a hardcore Soulsborne fan who wants something like it or consider Miyazaki to be some sort of visionary, avoid Code Vein like the plague.
It's decently fun, not quite on par with Dark Souls if that's what you're looking for, but I'd still say it's worth trying. The combat is a little floaty but overall pretty good, all the different abilities you can unlock keep it interesting. The majority of bosses are cool, although a few are complete pushovers. My biggest gripe is that the level design falls off and enemy variety gets pretty stale towards the end. DLC is offensively bad, its more or less the same area palette swapped and sold 3 times with the only unique factor being the bosses at the end.
Oh and there's huge fuggin anime tiddie mommy big milky waifus if you're into that
>more or less the same area palette swapped
They're all completely different layouts though, at least watch a let's play or something before posting about it.
>no PvP
he doesn't know
>extremely sterile by the numbers shounen plot full of "muh nakama" speeches
>retrofitted to the Dark Souls formula of "you are an undead who fights 4 lords to get access to the guy who's sacrificing himself to keep the status quo"
>too much copypasta re: enemy and level assets
>no offhand weapons or shields, only 1 gear slot
>combat is just buff stacking and ability spam
>leveling is fully automatic and you just choose between premade builds (blood codes)
It's amazing that it sold 1 million copies.
>Oh and there's huge fuggin anime tiddie mommy big milky waifus if you're into that
Yes.
>No PvP
But this is a good thing; PvP is the worst thing ever, especially when you force into a single player / co-op game.
I'm kinda tempted to try that mod for shit and giggles. I bet it's nothing but OHK.
Coomer game. Level design and enemy variety are bottom of the barrel, just copypasted prefabs and reskins of the same 6 enemies.
Never play Bloodborne. It's even worse.
>"It isn't like muh Dark Souls so it's shit. By the way it steals something from muh Dark Souls so it is shit for that too"
Enjoying having nothing to play until Master Miyazaki shits something on your general direction?
>extremely sterile by the numbers shounen plot full of "muh nakama" speeches
>too much copypasta re: enemy and level assets
These are your only good points, the rest is just exaggeration, nitpicking or complaining because it's not your own personal preference.
At least those two points are major flaws though.
I personally don't consider major flaws because I don't care about story or lore on games (in fact I played through the three Dark Souls games and Bloodborne without having a single idea, or giving a shit, why was I killing all of those zombies, monsters and dudes in armor) and Code Vein's enemies are overall fun to fight, especially given how many ambushes are forcing you to stay sharp.
It's like with Nioh: I'll rather fight another Oni variant for the 29549348189 time over fighting, what, a giant rat? a shitty statue that breaths fire? an overgrown mosquito?
Basically, yeah. Io and Mia are the only reason people bought this shitty cashgrab.
But the DLC's aren't even worth pirating, they're complete garbage.
I consider them major flaws because it's a really lame friendship orientated plotline with characters who take themselves 100% seriously and it never really gives you a reason to care about them.
It has always annoyed me when this series hand waves away plotpoints with friendship bullshit, but this time they go even further and don't add any of the themes and tone that made the dumbass shounen anime stuff work in it's mother series. Let alone have remotely enough character development for the player to care.
Also, I don't think anyone can realistically defend it's enemy variety. It's certainly enough to still be an enjoyable game, but there's no reason to praise it either.
because /v cant pirate it yet, recent one is fucked.
pretty much like everyone just started playing/discussing AC Odyssey because of the final patch crack
What is this game, never seen a single thread about it
Because the fate of all generic anime knockoffs is to be forgotten as soon as the post-nut clarity hits. This one is no different. If you are really desperate for a new souls game then you could do worse but it's not really worth playing unless your only requirement for liking something is "has anime girls".
>I consider them major flaws
Yeah, for you who gives more importance than needed to a videogame's writing. For someone who doesn't give a shit (like me) it's a non-issue. The true ending being a bunch of deus ex machinas and asspulls one after the others?? Sure. Who in the fuck cares?.
Daemon x Machine has easily some of the worst writing / plot / pacing I've seen in videogames ever, and that didn't stop me from having some entertainment from the game (the game itself is quite bland by the way; not something you would replay).
I defend its enemy variety because it's good enough to make the game entertaining. I've played games where the enemies don't do jack shit, or don't have interesting moveset being just punchbags. Vein's enemies can be repetitive (there are pretty much like six enemy variants) but they fight.
There is a demo, try it out first. It's decent, but don't go in expecting anime dark souls.
good game but not as good as other souls games
it's better than any souls game
not in my opinion
ok faglord
lmao
It's extraordinarily comfy but once you beat it, that's kind of it. The NG+ is only sort of worth playing through if you missed the good ending or whatever.
Io has some fat fucking tiddies though hell yea borther
Fucking weeb
How is the PC port? is it playable with KB+M?
The KB+M control was awful in the initial release of God Eater 3.
DLC killed discussion because it was a tremendous letdown.
But aside from that the gameplay is solid and it's unironically packed with chuuni soul. They clearly loved what they were making.
