Why did he throw materia at him?
Why did he throw materia at him?
He has autism but wants to give Cloud a late birthday present
It was a destruct materia, so maybe it was like a hint about what he planned to do
Sephibro just wanted cloud to be his bro.
He's a dick, but he still thought throwing a book would be too much.
he was just checking Cloud's catcher skills
The real question is, why he did a frontal flip afterwards
Spinning's a good trick.
can sephiroth really fly?
As said, it was likely a hint at his intentions
Also likely a gift to help Cloud in his journey and secure the Black Materia for him
this is proof that this was always meant to be dumb anime shit. A guy doing wacky anti gravity bike tricks is fine
Yeah, but for what purpose? Did he want Cloud to be amazed at his slick moves?
Every encounter with 'Sephiroth' (maybe save the end of disk 1, I don't remember) he leaves Materia behind, because the Sephiroths you see are actually manipulating Hojo's Mako boys toward converging for Reunion. He wants you to get there.
Except you're still teriffied with the scene, it catches you off guard, and him spiraling out of there all alien-like leaves you bemused and frightened as to what his true nature is
Of course. Senpai should show off for their kouhai.
I don't know why people keep calling anime dumb or shit, when western media is cringe as hell right now.
Because that is the ultimate way to use materia. Cloud was literally hit with 999999
zack looks different
i like this scene.
he gives you the way to remove safer sephiroth's barrier.
Sephiroth is so confident in his flying abilities he doesn’t even need to look where he’s going.
Based.
cloud was impaled by a sword and didn't get hurt, but getting hit lightly by a ball made him reel back?
its just kinda funny more than anything
>whataboutism
both can have shortcomings you know.
Materia is quite weighty. Like a cricket ball.
Yeah, seeing a gif with no sound and the pretext and the weight of atmosphere of the shinra mansion gives off a funny vibe, but I recall my child self shitting himself
Destruct materia sucks, so Sephiroth reunites materia trash with Jenova trash
So where exactly is 7th Heaven?
Whole game is riddled with judaism/christian/satanic symbolism
It's actually quite deep, but it goes over the heads of 99.98% normies
The 7th Sphere, the one of Saturn, is one that celebrates those who found Monastic orders.
Avalanche?
But in Hell, the seventh circle is reserved for people who are violently, specifically against people or property.
The reactor?
FFX is interesting too, if you like reading Jung and Freud.
Between 6th and 8th Heaven?
>if you like reading Jung and Freud.
A bit off topic, but Persona 3 nailed this thematic. Especially if you're into german continentals of 19th century, primarily Schop/Nietszche
Well yeah, you got Jung right in the name. I enjoyed that intro in Persona 1 about masks.
It's a shame I can't stand the games for some reason.
>It's a shame I can't stand the games for some reason.
I get you, there's a lot to dislike about Persona. But at the time I played 3 I was so heavily obsessed with existentialism and Nietszche, the game spoke to me on intimate levels
Nips generally are very obsessed with the topic of nihilism, and I can understand why
Why do you think Nips are so obsessed with nihilism?
I'm not very familiar with Japanese culture.
Senateroth
>why did the monster drop money when he died?
>why does the monster dungeon have a treasure chest with a weapon that only Cloud can use?
It's a fucking game. They wanted to give you materia.
they got nuked man, any day they all could die just like that. experience something like that changes you
>But at the time I played 3 I was so heavily obsessed with existentialism and Nietszche, the game spoke to me on intimate level
cringe
>Except you're still terrified with the scene
Maybe if you were 8 when you first saw it.
>that launch into the air and the way he flies out
Always been good laughing material.
Why did people think Sephiroth was a badass?
Intensely rigid ideological and societal doctrines. It's why Christianity too, appealed to them in such a measure, I think. They suffer from heavy tendencies towards collectivism, comformity and their educational and economic systems all the more enhance these sentiments. Hikimori isn't a phenomena that's been born out of nothing in Japan - they're in dire need of existential guidance, and the western metaphysics are very appealing to them due to never having a widespread philosophical rennaisance of their own.
dont ask questions, just consoom old product because old good new bad
>destruct materia Sephiroth throws at you helps break Safer Sephiroth's wall spell in the final battle
This game, man.
was getting defeated a part of his plan?
Anime is usually just really awkward and cringe.
clouds a bitch and he needs materia to come even close to sephiroth-sama
>funny
Of course seeing an out of context gif without sound seems funny. I could post chinese liveleak footage of people being slaughtered in the middle of the road sped up to 3x and it would look like a benny hill sketch. Okay maybe that was a bad example because chinks dying is innately funny but basically you're a fucking retard.
I guess Japan would be torn between Buddhism, Shintoism, Christianity, Jainism... probably Confucianism.
Interesting take.
>dodges bullets
>nailed by basically a softball
>the fucking flip before he just straight up brick-flies out of there
Fuck I love how retarded this game got at times.
True and true
He was being controlled by Jenova all this time. He wanted to be free to die rather than trapped in crystal/ice stasis for eternity.
It's right there, you have to get hugged by tifa to see it
fuck that shit
I wanna know how he can fly
KH1 had a lot to do with it considering most people's introduction to that fight was getting one shot about four seconds in because it opened up at like, level 30 or so.
Yeah I guess
>out of context
No amount of context or writers intent is ever going to make that somersault anything other than funny. i hope Remake keeps it just to emphasis how ridiculous it is.
Just piss off Cloud and give him another reason to keep pushing forward. It's also the Destruct materia, which is symbolic of Sephiroth's general actions. Cloud's thought process at this point is to chase after Sephiroth and kick his ass with this new materia he just got, all the while not realizing that he's falling into Sephiroth's trap.
China suffers from a similar disease. Feudal societies that were too quickly industrialized and brought up to western systems of thinking without the change really becoming prevalent among the widespread populace.
Western societies evolved through centuries to reach the stage of today, the asians in less than a century - Japan even less so. Such a drastic change of pace to their life brings about mental turmoil.
China seems like it suffers from opportunists taking advantage of the some of the anti-individual elements of Zen, Tao, and Buddhism.
Instead of celebrating the aspects that should enlighten and improve the social condition they instead use it to dehumanize completely. Maybe it's just a consequence?
I certainly see the qualities that you're referencing, though.
He is not Sephirot.
He can when using a Jenova piece or clone as a host and after retrofitting his original body with a bunch of wings.
