Switch Battery Life

>Oh no no no, what a shitty battery, laugh at nintenkeks
Dual Shock 4 Battery Life

>oh yes, this is the best controller ever, the light in the back is totally needed, laugh at the xcucks that use rechargeable AA batteries that last 45+ hours lololololol
In Snoyddit this is completely acceptable
Switch Battery Life
i mean the switch is an entire console and not a controller. thr joycons last 20 hours, and the pro controller lasts 40 hours and both are charged without the need of batteries. the wii u pro controller lasted 80 hours. theres no excuse for other consoles to not have a good controller that uses a cord to charge.
Only a nintentard would see this post as an attack on the switch and feel the need to come defend it
because you're comparing a consoles batterylife to controllers battery life and saying how xbox is better than both
me?
>controller operating time measured in hours
>my mouse operating time measured in years
Switch only last 2 hours tho, don't lie
>6 hours average
My arse. It’s 6 hours max, 3-4 with anything vaguely demanding.
He's referring to the model that has only been out for like 6 months, most Switch owners get about 3 hours of battery life.
>play switch offline in handheld mode, connected to my phone charger
>battery goes down even while plugged in
>play switch docked
>battery charge goes up even when playing online
What's happening here? At first I thought my battery was fucked but I guess not since it charges fine when docked
Never had the Switch die on me once. I own two launch period models (one for CFW/piracy the other is a dedicated AC:NH machine at this point). Even made a cross nation flight without it dying on me. Rest mode does a good job of not burning charge. I really only charge mine once every other day DESU.
How long is a PS4 console's battery life during a blackout? Unless you spend 1000 bucks on a decent UPS/generator, less than 1 second.
memes aside, the Switch peripherals are godly in terms of battery use. I think I've charged my launch Pro controller a dozen times a year tops and still holding a charge without problem and no drift. My X1 controller has drift though...makes you wonder.

Only if you leave rumble/vibration on or leave the built-in speakers enable. Those take a shitload of electrical power compared to basically everything else, including the LED light bar.
If you switch off the controller's built-in speaker and switch off rumble, a DS4 will last you anywhere between 10 and 20 hours depending on how well you treated its battery pack.
I thought the meme was that it's the touchpad that's eating all electrical power
DS4 nice ergonomically but who in their right mind is arguing the light bar is anything but stupid?
your phone charger is pretty shit
My only beef with the switch is it's kinda fussy to charge with a USB cable. Sometimes it'll maintain while I play undocked sometimes it won't charge at all, and it'll always say it's charging when plugged in so there's no good way to tell if it's plugged in just right. Anyone else's do this?
Nope. Just switch off rumble and switch off the built-in speakers. I did and my DS4 controllers now both last me about ~16hrs on a full charge each.
Its just a USB-C cable from anker with a wall block, does that really make a difference? I thought they all had the same voltage or whatever
Your phone charger can't deliver the required level of juice to the Switch.
Stop using it to charge it. Depending on how the Switch's internals for charging are constructed, you might actually be actively damaging the battery pack by undersupplying it.
Your phone charger might not be powerful enough to charge the battery while in use, the dock is designed to bring it enough power. I'm not an expert but its either the cable or the power brick or both that effect this.
Mine does something similar Yesterday it charged fine with my phone charger in handheld, today and all of last week it goes down if I play it handheld while charging, dock charger works great though
I can plug in my controller and still play. I can't plug my shitch in and still play without a tv. Great design from nintendo as usual.
bruh just activate airplane mode when it's not docked
unless you're gay and play smash
> Its just a USB-C cable from anker with a wall block, does that really make a difference?
Yes. wall-charge sockets are notoriously shit. They're almost always non-spec and will lie about being within spec. Never ever use them for anything that is not dispensable.
>I thought they all had the same voltage or whatever
you thought wrong
Not him but what's the best option? Plugging into the dock's USB port?
xbone even worse without a stock rechargeable battery
Nah there are differences and can even cause battery degradation over the long term. Generally you wanna charge with whatever comes with the product.
>you might actually be actively damaging the battery pack by undersupplying it.
Really? Everywhere I read said it's fine to use if it's USB C
>Dual Shock 4 Battery Life
>5 hours average
it works 12h if you have v2
>not having second DS4 and just change them to charge
Only a true retard would think that the LED on the ds4 has any significant power drain. Not excusing the ds4's battery life but you need to stop talking about things you don't understand.
Best option is to put it in the dock and play docked while it charges.
Well I guess I'll have to order another switch charger then, my dock is in my TV stand so it'd be a huge pain to unhook it every time
It's less of an issue these days and it's rarely a problem unless you use something widely off-spec for a long period of time.
But it's anker, I thought they were Nintendo approved
Alright, well it's just the basic wall charger from Amazon and an anker cable so I guess it should be fine
seriously though why does the DS4 have such shit battery life? when I got my ps4 back 2012 and it was brand new they still only lasted like maybe 2 play sessions. did it save Sony that much money to skimp on the quality of them?
it might be what the cable is plugged in to. Power bricks aren't all built the same, same with usb ports on the computer, same with cables too. It could be any of those.
Nintendo are retards and the Switch conforms to no USB standards. Its not smart to use anything other than chargers approved to work with the Switch because of this
Also in handheld mode the console will be taking on less power so it produces less heat, which will be why it charges when docked using the same charger
Not saying yours isn't fine just saying there are differences and some won't kick out enough power.
