Also theres a reason why the past several touhou threads have been dying with only 100 posts or so, because you throw up multiple threads a day, with no real waiting between them. so it always just becomes the same 30 or so people who have nothing better to do
these touhou threads are fine, but when it devolves into the constant general we've had here for the past few weeks its no better than /2hug/

Maybe EoSD. But UFO, SA and IN are also especially good. Really, all the mainline Windows games are pretty good.
However, the true best Touhou game might honestly be a fangame, since those sometime have higher budgets and more man-hours put into them.

SA i feel like i could blow a load to oku spellcards alone and TD has my favorite characters but is more into the easy side compared to the others entries

IN, for the amount of content and unlockable challenges it has. I'm surprised this system just straight up never returned.

TD has overdrive spells, that you unlock in spell practice. Only for the characters in the game, though.
I guess the photogames fill a similar role, too.

There's no Last Words or Last Spells or additional challenge levels that you unlock in various ways, and are generally harder variants of already existing attacks rather than new attacks like the ones in IN. And like you said it's limited to the bosses, so there are only 7 of them. Meanwhile IN had every playable character, every boss, and Tewi each have their own.

Not gonna mention the 12 shot types since 8 of them are really the first 4 broken up, but IN also had a different Stage 4 boss that changed based on your character and two final bosses. IN just went the extra mile.
