Is it just me or is the difficulty insane on just 'Hard'?
I'm just a couple of missions in and pretty much every single mission is rated as either "very difficult" or "difficult" with odds severely stacked against you while not really having the resources to deal with them? It's especially punishing if you end up picking the "wrong" soldiers (like the demo guy is fucking trash). The missions where enemies get reinforcements quickly become bonkers if the RNG is against you (miss several moderate-higher % shots).
So are we actually discussing the game or are we going full retard again?
Cherub and Terminal are OP and mandatory.
Blake Lee
Why are they so smug
Andrew Russell
So Torque's swallowed people whole huh
Jack Moore
The sectoid is really fucking creepy with lips. Why didn't they just keep the ACK ACK martian design?
Jack Howard
Snek and ayy are both good, but Cherub's shield is MVP.
Brandon Green
ive done missions without either
torque feels way more valuable, you can basically take any one unit out of the fight with a successful tongue coil
James Brooks
They did the same with the Muton. They probably felt that they look too much like monsters/not like heroes so they made them more human looking.
Evan Lewis
I feel like the timeline system just kind of sucks. I often pick Torque and Cherub to just lockdown or invalidate the turns of a few enemies and just steamroll the rest. Verge offers even more control and Terminal can face tank just about everything. I can't imagine changing this squad aside from healing wounds.
Jayden Flores
Remember not to pay for your daily propaganda dosage.
A game about humans and strange alien abominations attempting to get along, and the designers thought the aliens weren't human enough? The design direction of the XCOM games just keeps getting worse and worse.
Brandon Bell
>Two threads where he's posted this Fuck off, Jesus.
Alexander Anderson
there are still ack ack ones
im hoping they mod in more agents, including an ack ack sectoid
so many possibilities, a Spark unit, a ranger with an arc blade, i guess a grenadier doesnt fit the police theme but still
Isaac Hernandez
Snek, ayy, annoying medic, and cherub are my go to team right now. They're almost perfect for getting non lethal takedowns too if I can collar enough enemies with Verge.
Nolan Edwards
Worry not, user. I pirated it, it's not as bad as I thought but man is it basic and boring. It legit feels like an mobile game.
Dominic Gutierrez
>how dare you post a screenshot from the game in question
Adam Martin
because you dont have any friends, post the other one, i forgot to save these
John Cook
Demo guy? Claymore? He seems pretty useful so far. Being able to use grenades every round helps a lot, and his shrapnel grenade can be spammed since it’s just a cool down ability.
Julian Morgan
oh yeah, the Yas Forumsnigger is back with his delusions again
I'm not triggered by that, I'm mostly questioning the writers poor ability to construct jokes. It comes across as forced. Contextually it doesn't make sense and suggesting that all women are fearless, calm under pressure and inspire people around you (as a gender) is neither a stereotype or something that is innate to gender.
If anything it would've made more sense if the joke or twist was that the Muton (Axiom) didn't refer to human women (but it was set up so the player assumed so), but Muton ones (Berserkers) and being strong and fearless.
Cooper Walker
>tfw to smart for friends
John Morales
im annoyed that all the squad members are premade characters, it doesnt feel like in these types of games no real sense of loss other then annoying mission restart
Evan Hughes
how do you even use the androids? i put them in the APC but they don't show up during the breach they simply aren't there
I've done a few missions without Cherub, but Terminal is definitely mandatory. Free heals every turn is so incredibly strong. The only one who was really fine without her was Verge after his free heals every turn upgrade.
Bentley Peterson
But then how could they have their oh so witty MCU-tier dialogue without being premade?
Jeremiah Murphy
The VA is really bad, Hunt Down The Freeman had better performances on average than this game
Adam Green
they appear if you lose one dude before the final engagement
say you had to stabilize one of your agents in the first of three engagements, you will have an android for the next two
Grayson Hernandez
>how do you even use the androids? You only get to use them when your non-robot squad members are down and you're in a multi-part encounter, IIRC. I was pretty disappointed, I wanted a robot army.
Zachary Rodriguez
>yeah but even those 'very difficult' missions are trivial Not if you have replaced your better soldiers with worse ones (treating scars or something) and it's a reinforcement one. Depending on the enemy setups it can get really annoying as well, like MEKs and Guardians quickly turn encounters annoying, as do exploding robots in tight quarters (combined with guardians that increases their HP).
Chase Cruz
Who cares just restart the level lmao
Joseph James
wow, you can substitute 'alien' for 'immigrant' here. powerful. i applaud the devse for broaching real life issues
Ryan Evans
I really hope they don't implement any if the gameplay mechanics in this over to Xcom 3. There's legit nothing good.
Nathaniel Fisher
>every mission lasts 4 minutes That's not a bad thing. You the kind of person that likes the +40 minute matches of Dota 2 as well? Missions with 3 encounters take much longer.
James Collins
Congrats, you fell for the Yas Forums bait. The character is an Uncle Ruckus and hates aliens.
Carson Diaz
They should give Triangle Man more screentime
Andrew James
lmao, Torque's based and redpilled
Oliver Young
I'm a fan of the overwatch change, at least.
Xavier Jackson
>exploding robots I forgot they did that and decided to melee finish one as a joke. At least everyone survived.
If you actually played the game, you'd know that line is bait by itself. Snek waifu would go on Yas Forums all day.
Joseph Campbell
When you restart the same level 3 times and still lose it just becomes tedious. The game effectively promotes savescumming, which I pretty much never did in XCOM unless the RNG was flat out retarded and I missed like over 10 shots in a row with over half my units dying because of it.
>post sneks snekposting died when this shitty game released instead of increasing it
Cooper Mitchell
so positioning and exploring the map are downtime now? Firaxis are really dumber than I thought. Took them 8 years to realize pods and overwatch traps are a problem, and what's their answer? Cut out map traversal altogether, the game is now consecutive tiny ass room fights with near zero depth. The game may as well be a "party standing in a line" type JRPG. The horrific outlandish SJW pandering is just the cherry on the shit cake.
Meant to reply But most of it is good? I'd hope XCOM 3 has larger size missions, but less waiting around is a good thing.
Carter Diaz
>Pods >A problem
It's part of the game
Juan Robinson
So is this worth a buy right now or should I just wait until a sale next year? I've got 400 hours in X-com 2 but the whole "heroes' deal has me a bit on the fence.
Austin Ward
Chimera Squad is more tedious and takes longer due to the garbage turn system. It's much faster to move units around in XCOM2.
Adrian Torres
Pirate it. Then buy it if you like it.
Kayden James
It's $10, and if you really don't want to spend the money just fucking pirate it.
Grayson Cox
Because faggots like you are busy getting your (you) fix and won't shut the fuck up for five seconds.
