Why did this really good game with mostly positive reviews from both press and gamers cause a vocal minority to seethe so much? People who don't like Crysis 2 almost make it their personal mission in life to ensure you know they hate Crysis 2.

Are the crysis games any good? All I remember about them is that they’d pop up when you looked up “game with best graphics” in 2008
I liked it but it was too easy.

I wouldn't be so dismissive to call them tech demos but there are far better FPS games.
Pretty solid, except 3.
Crysis was good and the first four/five levels had great repalayability. Then it became a linear alien shooter and kind of sucked for the last half.
Crysis 2 took that last half and made a game of it, while also removing the fun stuff from the nanosuit so scrubs who couldn't manage suit energy and fats switch between speed and strength modes could enjoy. What a waste.
It's a downgrade from the first game in every way.
>smaller levels
>less interactivity in the environment
>shittier suit functions that make for slower and more boring gameplay
I had more fun punching gooks in the first game.
the multiplayer was great
Because it regressed the game in every single conceivable aspect, but even a discount Crysis is good enough to impress console players and simpleton critics. It was chastised not by a vocal minority, but by what looks like the average player that played C1 and knew how much potential was wasted on what is ultimately "just" an above average game.
They tried to substitute sandbox systems for scripted polish, but this polish breaks down severely. First game is more physical from how your guns handle to the ways everything around you reacts and that's what make it timeless like GTA IV. Even if Crysis 1 isn't perfect, it's alive thanks to all the simulations, however simple. Which is much better.
I liked it but do remember feeling disappointed by the lack of innovation compared with the first. 1 felt like a next gen experience at the time whereas 2 was just a good looking kinda tepid shooter.
