If a game doesn't have a good story with good characters and a good atmosphere I just can't play it. Playing plateformers and sandboxe games feels just meaningless to me. Games which requires you to grind feel the same. I don't understand how Monster Hunter World, Hitman, FPS and other shit like that have so much success here.
So I'm looking for a good game with a cool story and cool characters
>how does enjoying varying challenges fun? Read a book, watch a movie. You're on a wrong board, fuck off.
David Rodriguez
>cool story and cool characters The writing is more important than these and the game in your pic is shit.
Jose Hernandez
You're in the wrong fucking hobby if you want that shit Go watch a movie or read a fucking book
Easton Lopez
>I don't understand how Monster Hunter World, Hitman, FPS and other shit like that have so much success here. Because there are people who actually like video games. Go watch a fucking movie and stop ruining our hobby with your garbage taste. Developers appeal to morons like you because they realized most people don't actually understand or appreciate games, so it's easier to just make movies that require pressing x sometimes. I sincerely hope that you choke on your own shit and die.

So why do games feel like such a waste of time and so meaningless ?

>I dunno Dutch, if this feller wants to wear lipstick an' a dress, maybe we should be using the right pronouns 'n all outta respect
unironically agree, I play games for memorable experiences and love to get immersed more than anything there's a time and a place for more 'gamey' games like Wario Land 4 and CTR, but they have to be super engaging and nail what they attempt to do otherwise it's just a waste of time try some of these out
games can be lots of different things, there's space for RDR2 and Ghost of Tsushima and space for Mario and Sonic people enjoy games because they're interactive experiences unlike movies or books, dummy
vast majority of games are terrible and not worth your time, just like the majority of offerings in any other media
MHW, Hitman, MMO and RPG with fedex, platformers and metroidvania like Hollow Knight ...
What is wrong with people ? How can they spend countless hours on doing the same thing over and over again and gain absolutly nothing from it ? These games are so repetitive and filled with loot, rewards everywhere and stuff that just boost your dopamine for an instant so that you come back always wanting more and more
That's the thing. The first couple of retards that told me to go watch a movie or read a book just made me laugh, I couldn't even bring myself to answer them
I'd rather play a good movie game that gives me chills than a pathetic washed-up 8bit game from the eighties that has been done 100 of time and that adds absolutly nothing to the table
We are very different people. I respect you, but I hope the industry never caters to you entirely. Good gameplay mechanics are memorable and engaging. A story is ok I suppose, but not the primary reason I boot up a game and doesn't hold up to replays as well.
Brayden Wright
I feel you lad; on the horizon I'd say there's Tsushima, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, Bloodlines 2, Lord of the Rings: Gollum, nu-GoW 2 whenever that comes out, DeS Remastered and TLoU 2 those should all be reasonably high quality, cinematic, good atmosphere/characters etc
I did, that was phenomenal. No bullshit HUD filled with trash and markers, no uninspired design, vulgarity and pointless stuff that adds some artificial difficulty or artificial lenght ...
that was just a pure experience. Something that you see once in a lifetime.
You must not play a lot of games because nearly all games have fucking awful writing.
Isaac Davis
Thanks for proving to us that you never played those games, zoom zoom

Rockstar games are garbage dude. They're bad as games and they're bad at being the movies they try so hard to emulate. They do neither well.
Aiden Sullivan
I did play Hitman 2016. It was painful. Puzzle game that requires you to autistically do the same level over and over again until you learn patterns and all scripted mini stories to kill a target. That's boring, useless and does not require "skill" at all.
I played MHW recently and I just lost 15 bucks but it's ok we all do mistakes. MHW is pathetic action game that requires you to kill the same monsters over and over again in order to upgrade your equipements and you repeat that for 50+ hours ...........
Rockstar's games have something MHW and Hitman lack. They have SOUL, atmosphere, characters, stories.
They have those things that stick in your head over the years. Things that you don't forget, it gives you emotions.
Hitman and MHW are just bland.
Aaron Gutierrez
They're hollywood tripe. You have awful taste. Read a book or watch a decent movie.
Adam Roberts
lmao, Yas Forums talking about taste.
Logan Martinez
Hitman oozes atmosphere though
Adrian Young
Blood money, silent assassin and Absolution yes
nu-Hitman sucks.Fact is, only Yas Forumsirgins play that
Lincoln Morgan
Beyond Two Souls
Chase Clark
>I don't understand how Monster Hunter World, Hitman, FPS and other shit like that have so much success here. Maybe because most people prefer Gameplay over Story, that is why Red Dead 2 is crap
You have basic bitch taste. You probably think MCU is top tier film.
Ryder Thomas
Based OP realizes the potential of video games to be one of the best mediums for storytelling. Don’t mind the bing bing wahoo fried dopamine receptor retards who say that good stories don’t belong in video games, their children will look on them with contempt and disgust when they stubbornly still play sandbox FPS while their kids are experiencing 21st century Shakespeare or Tolkien while immersed in a virtual world.
Brandon Murphy
I miss arthurposting

true Chads; you can only come to this conclusion after you've matured and played every type of vidya to exhaustion
