Is Dynasty Warriors 9 fun or should I get Samurai Warriros 4-2?

It's the worst Dynasty Warriors by a SIGNIFICANT margin.

Even 6?

Yes, not even joking.

Shouldn't get either. Modern musou is a joke. Go for DW4, DW5, SW2 or WO

Zhong Hui's design is, unironically, one of the best they've ever done. Guo Jia's is the absolute worst they've ever done though. Such a shame, one of my favorite people of the period.

Neither, play one of the older titles.

It was a bit of a surprise going into DW8 coming from DW4 and seeing that a full half of the roster is twink fuckboys now.

i cant remember if it was DW 7 or 8 that had the historical routes and the hypothetical routes but iirc those 2 were really solid games

Who is the most fun character anons?

Play Sengoku Basara

I would if I could, but Capcom are faggots.

Best musou on pc? Best one on switch?

I've heard Hyrule Warriors is supposedly really good.
Does anyone know if the Dragon Quest one is good?

Some of the more recent Basara designs are pretty bad though, like Sanada Masayuki & Nobuyuki in Yukimura's spin-off. Apparently they have a different character designer now or something.

The second Dragon Quest one is supposed to be good, but people also swear it isn't a musou game too so I dunno

Always been Xu Shu since he was released. Sword and hook feels like you're playing a different (better) game.

That's kind of cherrypicking isn't it? And even if it's not, the top bunch are also a different flavour of fuckboy anyway.

I enjoy gimmicky characters who have some extra mechanics in their moveset like Ding Feng, Guan Yinping and Yu Jin

Why should I not get Samurai Warriors 4-2?
I just bought my first Musou with Dynasty Warriors 8XLCE

What makes Sengoku Basara different from Koei's games?

>Yukimura
Koei is better.
>Nobunaga
Koei is better
>Mitsuhide
Capcom is better
>Magoichi
Koei is better
>Masamune
Koei is better
>Ieyasu
Capcom is infinitely better
>Mitsunari
Capcom is infinitely better

Is this Devil Kings? I thrashed this game back on PS2

>Samurai Warriors 4-2
Have you played 4 already? 4-2 isn't really a full game at all, get Spirit of Sanada instead (or 4 if you haven't played it yet)

I've never played any Samurai Warriors game.

Thank god SW is safe then

I know Koei themselves love Nobunaga but he's been shit and even more one-note than Basara demon king Nobunaga as of SW4. He was at his best in the earlier games and earlier Warriors Orochi games

If you want a modern one then play SW4 first, SW4-2's expansion content to it that doesn't include the original game basically

Just get DW 8

>SW4-2's expansion content to it that doesn't include the original game basically
That sounds a bit wack. What's Spirit of Sanada then?

True, but seeing him send thousands of people to hell in WO4 was pretty cool. His laugh alone could cure cancer

Spirit of Sanada is a spin-off focused around one of the clans in this series. It is a fully fledged game in it's own right but I'd recommend playing a normal SW game first before playing it, as it expects you to know some of the characters already I feel.

I'm seeing this Samurai Warriors 4 Empires game too, what's that all about? Is that Samurai Warriors 4 or a different game again?

only played FE warriors, my favorite part of that game was the tactical menu and the AI being alright as long as you properly tell them to do shit, any other games in the series have anything similar to that?

A lot of musou games have Empires spin-offs, they're more strategy orientated games with character creators as well (although SW4 also has a character creation mode anyway, which isn't the norm for this series). It's another spin-off with no real story modes to speak of, again I'd recommend playing SW4 or some other 'base' SW game before bothering with it.

Its SW4 but you control any of the clans to dominate all of Japan. It has tidbits of strategy in it like sabotaging your enemies' defenses and setting up relationships and coalitions. It even has a custom character but anything aside from normal musou combat is pretty barebones so I wouldn't waste money on it if its your first time

The monumental problems with 9.

-They made an open world game without understanding the idea of an open world game. You go around the map exploring different places, looking for things to do. In 9, all the missions are railroaded for each stage, meaning for that stage its just those missions and there's nothing to do anywhere else on the map making it pointless to go anywhere but those mission locations.
-Said missions are the same for each character for that stage and faction. So for example in the first Shu stages, it doesn't matter if you pick Liu Bei, Zhang Fei or Guan Yu, those three share the same mission structure.
-Cloned weapons are back. Combo enders and the unique attack (R1 and O) are different for each character but many characters share the same basic moveset, insultingly long time unique characters are also made clones (Zhang He lost his claws and has Yuanji's knives, Sun Ce lost his tonfas and got Zhou Cang's cleaver thing)
-Said weapons were instead remade into DLC weapons. DLC weapons.
-There's no interesting pathways to lead into what if scenarios which you'd think that an open world concept would be taking huge advantage of. Again, these scenarios are added as paid DLC.
-Allies AI are at their worst. In the past, though they often require babysitting, at times they are capable of holding their own or taking over enemy locations. Here, they cannot even take over a single enemy fort if you are not there them. I'm speaking from experience when this game was still relatively new so I don't know if updates had improved them.

Thank you very much for your help! I will get Samurai Warriors 4 then, and try and find a copy of Sengoku Basara
