Honestly I feel like FFII could actually do well with a remake. If Squeenix is allowed to tweak VII's story and gameplay, then it could do wonders for this game. FFII was bad due to the limitations of the time, FFXIII had to try to be as bad as it is.

I've only played the first 7 FF games. This one was definitely the weakest, but it did hold my attention to the end. It was their first time writing actual characters, both playable and non-playable characters after all. Gameplay/progression system is questionable, but it was popular at the time to innovate heavily with sequels (smb2, zelda 2, etc), so I understand where they were coming from. People forget that it also established quite a few series staples, like boss music and meteo. A complete remake would be very interesting.

I played the GBA version about halfway through and recalled enjoying that, though that's the easy mode version and the skill leveling system did involve Blizzard getting unduly powerful for coming in early. And some great tunes of course, those PS1 arrangements are still pretty great.
