If I want to play all the FF starting with 1 and stopping at 6, should I play them in order? I just want to play 1-6 because I've played 7-15 already. I just want to see if all the hipsters and boomers are right about the older games being fun and kino blah blah blah.

SNES versions are fine. PSX would be best but loading times fuck them up, not sure if emulation fixes that but if so play those versions.

6 is similar to 7 in a lot of ways. I liked 4 a lot when I was 11 years old and knew it as FF2 but it’s not as “mature” (kek) has the later entries I suppose. I like the 3D remake of FF4, especially the boss difficulty changes like counters. But I don’t know if you’d like it. It’s similar to FF9 but better in my opinion
I like FF1 because I grew up with it but honestly it’s kind of unplayable primitive trash. FF2 is too and it plays more like a Saga game (I think one of the main guys went on to make Saga) and it’s got more of a story but it’s very primitive. Good music though. All of them have good music. FF3 I personally couldn’t get into in any form. FF5 is less about story and more about classic JRPG gameplay similar in some ways with its job system to dragon quest but very different at the same time. I think it’s still fun today but it’s nothing like the later games.
Anyways FF6 is probably the best of the bunch and relative to the ones you played. The FF games that I personally like are FF4-FF7, FF9 somewhat, and FF10. I have a soft spot for FF1 but acknowledge it’s not very good by today’s standards. I think all the other games are fucking garbage especially FF7R and FF15. I’d rather play the awful lightning trilogy. Crisis Core sucks too
