A shit game with a good premise has more reason to be remade than a good game that still holds up.
It's why people want Code Veronica remade and don't care about Resident Evil 4 being remade. RE4 is fine, CV has some awful issues.

CV is only bad literally if you are bad at the game and no other reason.
This goes for backtracking as well. Across the entire game, there exists one instance of mandatory backtracking (not counting small shit like going from the military training facility to the palace). Everything else is self-imposed, either because the player forgot something or got poisoned by Nosferatu (or if you're trying to fulfill certain S-Rank Requirements).

All the games have bad VAs, difference is CV lets your skip the cutscenes, so this is a non-issue.

A remake wouldn't fix that, and as Darkside Chronicles showed, Capcom would only make the story worse.

When FF7R got announced, I posted in one of the early threads that I thought it was an awful idea and would not be purchasing the game.
Now that I know it's something new, I will be getting it, because I want to see where it'll go from here.
The idea of some new version of a game coming along and replacing the original is fucking horrible, and I don't get why people are so obsessed with it. If it was something like Resident Evil Survivor, I'd understand, as that's a game LIMITED by the time it was released in, while FF7 embraced its limitations and became something cherished for decades after the fact.

Why would anyone want to play the bad version of the story where things went wrong, which the characters are now averting?

I like the original game and I like this game, even some of this game's goofier moments.
But fucking hell if you think that scene with Cloud and Sephiroth straight out of Advent Children is okay you're brain dead.
