It's not just the voices, it's the dialogue, and the posturing and motions of the characters that just make it look awkward. I don't want to say it's too Japanese, but look at the conversation with Tifa and Aeristhsth, it just feels so ridiculously camp like they regressed in their age and act like anime 8 year old best female friends.

That's exactly what it is though, Japanese. It's even worse than the other compilation stuff when it comes to dialogue, voices, and the acting. Even the JP voice acting is worse compared to other compilation stuff it's really weird.
