RE5 could have been great without the forced AI partner, with RE4-style inventory and save systems, and with the ability to move while aiming. That last one isn't required but it would let them make the enemies more aggressive without being unfair.

This and OG RE2 are the best

no it didn't. 4 has much better inventory management, weapons, and pacing. 5 just has the cool wesker fight. the starting level has a damn turret section, it was a product of its brown and bloom time

co-op is part of what makes it great

My favourite used to be 5 because it's such a great coop game and I have many fond memories of it.
But I went back to Remake 2 after some time and got the 100% and realized just how good it is and how much I really love it. Legit beautifully designed, never gets boring and mods just add to that. Doing Hunk, Tofu and the Ghost Survivors is great too, most fun I've had with a single player game in quite some time.

user you should know that REmake is very badly designed.

And they seemingly abandoned it, remake 3 was a weird uncharted clone, and remake 4 is going right back to the action heavy style. Missed potential.

Gunna go with that one OP. I realize it isn't the absolute best be all end all game in the franchise but I've had the most most fun with it. Mercenaries and Mercs Reunion alone added a lot of hours to me and my friends playtime.
