gears of war series is basically the definitive 3rd person action shooter series with similar games within the genre basically copying most of what it brought to the table.

which is one of the reasons i was so disappointed in gears 5 because even though it's a good shooter it didn't push the boat out and innovate the genre as much as it's predecessors did

Its funny how Gears is what started the slow cover based shooters, but each sequel increased your speed to the point that cover was only used to paralleling you.
