>There was a time when the Brain Age series was an incredible seller for Nintendo. It became one of those expanded audience titles that ended up reaching tens of millions of consumers, and sold countless units across multiple installments. Everyone was playing it, celebrities were endorsing it, and there were a variety of news programs covering the game. It was a real part of culture back in the DS days, and it left an indelible mark. >Unfortunately for Nintendo, the Brain Age series doesn't seem to have the staying power that their other franchises do. After the original releases on 2005 and an 'Express' version in 2012, Nintendo came out with Brain Age: Concentration Training in 2012/2013. This installment, while offering new content on top of the traditional training methods, didn't really click with consumers. The game failed to find an audience anywhere near as big as the original releases, showing that most who got in on the craze the first time around had since moved on. >That same trend seems to be continuing to an even greater extent with Brain Age on the Switch. Known in Europe as "Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training for Nintendo Switch," the game's launch seemed to be met with a thud in both Japan and Europe. Those who were willing to dip back into the franchise with the 3DS release seemed to have gone into hiding for the Switch version. The game hasn't really made any notable progress on sales charts, including both digital and retail.
What went wrong? Why didn't Nintendo fans buy this game?
Edutainment shovelware did great on the PC and DS. Not so much on any other platform.
Landon Butler
The fuck is this retard talking about, it constantly shows up in famitsu's weekly charts.
Logan Peterson
I didn't know it hadn't been released in the US It's out in the UK so they have the English translation done, I'm sure it will at least get a digital release
Connor Robinson
It's been out for 4 months and has sold less than 500k. The DS games sold over 20 million each.
Jeremiah Hall
no shit, what did they expect from an 10 year old edutainment made for the ds, they're so retarded
Easton Garcia
The reason its not out in America is because NOA are trash.
Adam Cruz
It's not like they spent more than 3 cents on producing these games, it still should've been a profit.
Daniel Gutierrez
I blame Americans
Austin Turner
>Nintendo fanboys are brainless retards This is news, how?
Grayson Hernandez
It's often not just profit, but how much profit. Disney canned Disney Infinity because while it was making money, it wasn't making enough and they thought their resources could be better spent elsewhere.
Jayden Rodriguez
Y'know I had one of these games for DS back in the day, very cozy little piece of software.
Joseph Carter
Nintentoddlers deserve Death, they buy waifushit and rushed games, but doesn't support Kawashima. Why are they like this?
>every game is releasing as an unfinished beta Wtf is Nintendo doing
Elijah Rogers
The money is used to fund schools, Kawashima donates all the money he’s made from the Brain Age series to a Research Centre at his University. If will not be a good move if it underperforms.
Elijah Lopez
HD development KILLED Nintendo's momentum. Now they can only make 3 games a year because all their japanese indie studios went bankrupt trying to make HD games. Look at the Pii U - it's the exact moment when they fully went to shit (even though the seeds of destruction were planted a gen earlier)
Charles Robinson
>(even though the seeds of destruction were planted a gen earlier)
The fuck are you on about you little psycho
Evan Torres
It's not that it's a flop, I think they're not legally allowed to release it in America for some reason
Carter Reyes
>doesnt release in the US >dude why are sales so low?
Anthony Rodriguez
This right here. Those lazy fucks will use any excuse to not localize a game they don't like.
Wyatt Perry
1 The Switch isn't the DS, it doesn't possess the casualty of a pure handheld 2 lack of advertising
Andrew Price
based schizo
Daniel Price
US isn't the only country dumbass, your people kill yourselves everyday.
Colton Price
incoming surge of wojak toddlercon and oh no posting
Robert Collins
>dude just buy a math puzzle mobile app for full price!
Jason Evans
This would have been one of those games that would sell incredibly well with the cell phone market.
Carson Barnes
So? Switch is region free. Just grab it from the EU eshop.
Carter Parker
>What went wrong? Why didn't Nintendo fans buy this game? shit like this is now played on mobile much more than in 2005
Joshua Nguyen
>Full Price It's 40$ and you get a free stylus.
Charles Robinson
There is nothing stopping them from making the same kinds of games they always did except for some misplaced desire to live up to modern graphical standards which is not and has never been necessary for good sales. Just look at Octopath Traveller. People are willing to buy snes graphics if you slap shaders on them.
Blake Rivera
wait really? I've had it pirated for like two months now and play it daily. Its in full english, is this a joke?
>#1 in the Toys to Life genre. Nintendo and Activision can't even compete. >3.0 was a success with critics and consumers >Generated a ton of revenue for Disney >Turned their videogame company from losing money every quarter to finally making money >Shut down everything because they found out licensing to EA was a cheaper deal >All because it made $2.1 billion instead of $2.2 billion, and that was all due to these dumbfucks flooding the pegs with Yondu figures no one wanted in 2.0, because Ike the Kike demanded more Marvel representation Marvel was the worst addition to Disney Infinity. They made development a nightmare for the team and the restrictions they put on them made their part of the game mediocre.
