Used to invent 3D games as we know them

you may not have noticed, but many Yas Forumsiggers have massive cognitive dissonance
Saturn and Play station came out a year sooner, the saturn stock controller is still better than the n64 controller, that 3 prong broken gimp stick piece of shit should have been redesigned after sony made the duelshock. I mean nintendoi basically went and copied the x box controller which was a ripoff duelshock.

That was Ultima Underworld, you ignorant zoomer, from motherfucking 1992, YEARS before the N64, retard
Nobody implied that the DPad Playstation controller was good.
>Ultima Underworld
>3D
Ahahaha.
dumb ni*toddler
>sega literally invented 3d games, pushed hardware to it's limits pioneered game design in their arcade cabinets that were light years ahead of what nintendo were doing
>nintendogaffedditor thinks nintendo is le 3d pioneer and sega is just a cheap copycat
>>SEGA and Sony launch 3D consoles with nothing but a d-pad
ahem.
Don't need an analog stick when all your games are turn-based story-driven J"RPG"s
>Used to invent 3D games as we know them
I hope this was a bait.
Even as a kid I thought PS1 and N64 graphics looked ugly compared to PC graphics.
Zoom zoom.
Came out after the N64. this is what you had until then.
>Thread about controllers
>"But the graphics"
just saying 3d games looked awful on both n64 and ps1. also keyboard + mouse felt more natural than analog controls for most games.
Nintendo didn't invent 3D games. Nobody said this. On the other hand the 3D games we have today use the OoT and SM64 blueprints. Ever played a game where you can move the camera independently of the character? Super Mario 64 invented that.
>Dan Houser, a prominent figure in the development of the Grand Theft Auto series, stated, "Anyone who makes 3D games who says they've not borrowed something from Mario or Zelda [on the Nintendo 64] is lying."
Thank him.
ahem.
We just had a thread yesterday where we all shat on the N64. Is this the new thread? OK.
I'd rather use a D-Pad than a shitty analog stick. Especially if the game never had analog control in the first place.
Also came out after the N64, lil zoomy.
>Proving his point
Lol
>Ever played a game where you can move the camera independently of the character? Super Mario 64 invented that
No it didn't. Don't believe everything you read on wikipedia and ign.
Always trust Yas Forums right?
We're all supposed to hate N64 now, get with the fuckin' program.
Name one game that did it before. One.
>Also pic related psx game from 1995 compared to n64 game from 1999
this is mainly because of Nintendo's decision to expand their system's hardware so late in the game. If their dong was expanded from the start shit would have been fine. lesson learned.
those angles aren't controlled by the player.
>Also pic related psx game from 1995 compared to n64 game from 1999
Mega Man Legends came out in 1997, not 1995, and the N64 version is known to be a lazy port. It was shit out randomly in 2000, after the game was long forgotten, and didn't even get a PAL release.
How the fuck would you redesign your controller after having been out for over a year?
The dualshock has always been a shit controller and had maybe a handful of games on the ps that even used it, n64 was a failure only in retrospect because the majority of games that came out were 3d and they had to anticipate the fact that 2d was still an option
The player selects between the angles, which is actually how SM64 works. When you press a C button, the camera lerps between large intervals, which is why a lot of people complain about it. The only way to get full camera control in SM64 is to press the button that locks it behind you, but that makes it no different than traditional first and third person cameras of the time, in fact it's worse because you can't move and look around like that at the same time.
The narrative of SM64 revolutionizing camera systems is a total fabrication.
>The dualshock has always been a shit controller
Fucking this.
I had a fresh N64 and my friend a fresh ps1, the dual shock was really shit and my friend would end up with lots of controllers because the stick was fragile as fuck.
ahem
