I've been seeing a lot of threads lately saying "It's good now" or "Why aren't you playing it?", so I thought I'd clear things up for any anons who might be considering it. With about 40 hours logged, here's my experience.

The good:
>Writing is legitimately better than 4 (not a high bar but still)
>Dialogue takes stats into account, get unique dialogue options based on them sort of like NV
>Perk card system lends itself to making certain builds as opposed to the "dude just get every perk lol" mentality 4 had.
>Gunplay is pretty good with some interesting weapons
>Environments are fun to explore
>Building/crafting is well implemented if you're into that
>Economy is mostly fueled by trade between player vendors/competitive market
>Wastelanders adds a good amount of story/quest content
>Game seems significantly more polished since release, have only experienced a couple visual bugs during my playtime.
The bad:
>The stash box(your only permanent storage solution) caps out at 800 pounds
>Wonky enemy scaling. Enemies scale to the highest level player in the area, so god have mercy on a level 20 trying to do a story quest who happens to pass by a level 200.
>Can join any and all factions with no consequence. The Enclave will still accept you if you are a fully fledged BoS member and vice versa, which doesn't make any sense at all.
>Unprovoked PvP has been completely removed from Adventure mode, which means you won't just randomly get murdered, but it also makes the wanted/bounty system pointless and PvP virtually nonexistent. The only way I managed to get a bounty was lockpicking some retard's front door because he put his vendor machine INSIDE his house.

I'm level 60 and still don't have power armor, good guns, or good armor. I just don't know what to do.

I'll help:

The bad:
>Bethesda Fallout

The good:
>You get a free laugh at the expense of the retards who actually fell for it and bought it

The writing while being a step in a good direction still blows ass btw. Partly its still just limping from the assfuck that was the removal of skills in Fallout 4, now with high intelligence automatically making you a doctor, engineer, physicist, economist, everything. But in addition to that, NPCs still feel plastic. They are too clean, too surface level. They give of a feel of
>ahem, I am an NPC in this Fallout tm universe, and I am reacting to this cuh razy wasteland just like you!
That plagued Fallout 4.

Hilariously, they tried to go with a semblance of moral ambiguity between different factions as in New Vegas but they shot themselves in the foot because they still have bethesda tier factions with zero thought whatsoever, like the "Raiders", who "raid", and "believe in strength" and somehow they struggle to make the neutral observers try and seem accepting of these raider morons when it makes no sense for anyone to have any desire for them to be around for a second longer than necessary.

I'm level 28 right now and I managed to get my hands on a couple power armors and some decent guns. Some of it's just RNG from enemy drops but power armor is found all over the place and you can get some good gear if you do certain quests. I obsessively scrap every spare gun I can find, which is good for unlocking mods/schematics

Sage this thread. Fuck bethesda.
Fallout is dead until Obsidian do New Vegas 2.

>He wants another Obsidian Fallout
Did you see what they did to the Outer Worlds? Obsidian is a one hit wonder that gets paraded around by Yas Forums contrarians who haven't played any game in the franchise but New Vegas. Their newest attempt at an "RPG" was even worse than Fallout 4

Its just dead, that wont ever happen unless Bethesda goes under and is forced to sell. And as we can see, they could probably finance a revolution and tyranny in a poor country with establishing slavery and people would still buy their products.

>revolution and tyranny in a poor country with establishing slavery
Has Bethesda always been so based?

Fucking fuck Betheshit.
I literally get angry as fuck in real life whenever I think about what they've done to Fallout.
I should probably get therapy or some shit but god damn FUCK TODD. I HATE SHITOUT 3, 4 and 76.

>Yas Forums contrarians who haven't played any game in the franchise but New Vegas.

Is this really what bethesdadrones tell themselves to convince themselves that the new fallouts aren't literally shit?

lol seeth

seeth more

your tears are life to me

>t. seething new vegas fan

The new ones may be shit, but you really think Obsidian would do a better job at this point? The retards pleading for a New Vegas 2 are clinging to the husk of what was once a decent studio. Best option is for the franchise to just die at this point.

is it an rpg yet?

>>The stash box(your only permanent storage solution) caps out at 800 pounds

Not an issue unless you're literally a duper/legendary hoarder.

>>Wonky enemy scaling. Enemies scale to the highest level player in the area, so god have mercy on a level 20 trying to do a story quest who happens to pass by a level 200.

Yeah that is a pain. One Wasteland is going to fix that though

>>Can join any and all factions with no consequence. The Enclave will still accept you if you are a fully fledged BoS member and vice versa, which doesn't make any sense at all.

I don't think MODUS gives a shit about the BOS, they're all dead anyway. You only join it to gain access to their base to learn the location of the SBQ anyway so it's not like you're actually a believer of the BOS ideology

I mean, no griefing sounds fine to me. Play the BR mode if you want to PvP.

I hate to say it but I agree with you Avelone and Gonzalez left obsidian and based on the noclip documentary on outer worlds boyarski is the only one in obsidian who hasn’t gone full woke cringe but sadly he’s being drowned out. If obsidian made another fallout it would be just as clean and inoffensive as fallout 4 except with more blacks and trannies

I don't give a shit about a NV 2, and I know Bethesda are so fucking pathetic and trash that they will never let it happen obsidian has already tried. But if you seriously delude yourself into thinking all the NV fans have not played all the other fallouts, you're actually retarded.

I guess? Like I said, build variety is there with perk cards and mutations and such, and there are different factions to join/different decisions to make, but I'm not sure what kind of depth it would need to classify as an RPG.

[Intelligence 15] Yes

like npcs to talk to and interact with
multiple ways of doing things
multiple dialogue options
that kinda shit

Also this is true. SJWs are invading and ruining everything. Bunch of fat hair dyed dykes

>having a load out makes it an rpg
Doooiiiiiiiioooiiiooiiiiooiiiii

>Not an issue unless you're literally a duper/legendary hoarder.
How the fuck does one reach this conclusion? I'm level 28 playing normally and my stash box is full. I have a few power armors, some weapons, and my scrap in there. Does having literally anything besides the clothes on my back make me a hoarder?

Yeah, there are NPCs to talk to and certain dialogue options that are only available depending on its related SPECIAL stat. Those same stats also tie into certain things in quests, i.e. using intelligence or perception to learn more about/examine something or charisma/luck to entirely skip part of a quest.

You only need like 100 of each scrap unless its what you use to repair your gear

I see a lot of people who have like 1000 cloth, adhesive, and leather, which you don't need. that much of. The only thing you should hoard is lead, steel, and plastic for ammo crafting.

Why does this game seem to give players so much fucking trash

>a new obsidian fallout game
>without John Gonzalez or Avellone
no thanks

If you're talking about the scrap, it's a fundamental part of the game. You salvage materials from junk and use it to craft/repair things.

Unrelated question. If I wanted an immersive scavenging experience (I do not want story-related quests AT ALL) with fun "village-building" how would I mod Fallout 4 to accommodate that?

I could see so much potential in the stuff that Fallout 4 laid out in terms of providing semi-immersive systems for proper post-apocalyptic survival.

You get power armor by finishing Rosie’s quest chain. You can also find power armor chassis and armor parts in the overworld.

First off, get a mod that removes the settlement build limit (after you build a certain amount, it literally won't allow you to build more until you remove something), then look into stuff like Sim Settlements to make it a bit more in depth. If you want to up the whole "post-apocalyptic survival" feel, play on survival difficulty
