Its surely going to be 3d marios or they missed a great chance with it being the 3rd title in the series. Guess you would get a blank 3d cube to build in about the size of whomps fortress, I hope they would let you use blank 3d spheres to make galaxy planets but I doubt it somehow, because it would make swapping between sm64 and galaxy a pain.

Platformers don't work in 3D and this is meant to be a stop gap between 3D games they're developing. It will never happen.
