Placebo. They see one game looked better with CRT now they think every game must look better with CRT.

Why didn't devs use something similar to scalable vector graphics to build older games? They would've benefitted from higher resolutions today.

>technology goes forward
>HEY GUISE LET'S BRING BACK VISUAL ERRORS THAT NOBODY WANTED MUH SOUL

what the fuck did you expect from idiots

retarded fag

>OH SHIT NIGGER
what am i looking at here? upscaled res?

Reminds me of those hipster vinyl chucklefucks.

I'll take FLAC. And I'm an older gamer so #notallboomers.

>placebo

Spoken like a true clueless nigger. OP's filter is shit though

Look at and compare the faces, the barrel, the ground. Pixelazation was a limitation of the tech of the time. Artists used the CRT as a tool to overcome the limitations. The CRT created the illusion of more colors and anti-aliasing. Only idiots think that the pixelized mess you see on LCD screens is how the artists intended the game to look like.

basically yes, it's the internal resolution exploding to 8 times the size which makes the polygons vomit themselves outwards

HURT EYES

zoomers use the filters, boomers still have actual crts lying around their houses.

I like the xm29plus preset. I'm too lazy to record a video but it looks better in motion. Try it out.

What the fuck are you even trying to prove with that image, FF7 with crt-royale looks great and nothing like your images

It's not just 2D games that benefit. Early 3D games are helped by CRT tech too cause they were very low poly.

little babby with no taste detected

>and nothing like that image

maybe because I don't use artifact filters like a suicidal boomer

dumb zoomer detected

It's not even boomers, it's 20yo hipsters. I grew up with CRT and I was happy as fuck when I could finally afford a flat screen TV.

because it takes 100x the amount of effort to make vector graphics as opposed to pixel art lol

And at those resolutions, it's far more performance expensive

those filters arnt even what crt looks like

You know you can increase the resolution for 3D models right

I play FFVII's steam version for the retranslation, without any filters but I like how this looks too

I prefer the left one, but just because it has maximum SOUL.

I guarantee, anyone that used a CTR growing up is not using those filters.
The day we stopped using CRTs was a hallelujah moment for any gamer.

I don't remember either of these games looking like this when I played them.

literally all looks like shit, ff7 aged horribly.

>I play FFVII's steam version for the retranslation

you can apply the retranslation to the NTSC ps1 rom you know, it takes 5 minutes

Attached: file.png (1920x1080, 355.14K)

played snatcher with the CRT filter and it looks good

Is the AA / blur of the models a shader or something?

Attached: Final Fantasy VII (USA) (Disc 1)-200411-221342.png (960x720, 62.92K)

it's a vulkan render option, you render the polygons at whatever resolution you want in multipliers (in this case that pic is 8x times the internal original resolution) and then downsample them back to the OG resolution, that way you get cleaner, smoother 3d models that have more detail on them and that blend seamlessly in the pre-rendered 2d backgrounds, like shown in the SOUL tab

Attached: 4.png (1912x3208, 2.47M)

All of these "CRT" filters are fucking trash and look nothing like a CRT

I actually checked for that when installing the steam version but it seems that many of the required links are down and the translation is outdated in comparison to the steam version. If you have a fully updated set of ISOs please share it

not all of them
kega fusion's one looks fucking fantastic

the mirror of the pc version is down
the ps1 translation is up and running here romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=19709

with that said I can upload my patched discs, I got good internet, wait a bit desu

You need to see them in motion to get the full experience. The good ones aren't just static overlays.
