and 4 the record, i only played The Orange Box

It's a fucking 1998 game. Just play it on whatever shitbox of a PC you have.

Works very well, the PS2 port is surprisingly good and has an exclusive co-op mode that's canon I think. Of course, the PC version is the best one but it's a shitload of fun on PS2. Controls well.

Why would you get it on PS2?
>controller
>no customization
>graphics are dumbed down because it's a console
>harder to find since not a lot of people played on PS2
>no mods
>no multiplayer

You get
>finicky co op mode that you can play on PC
>that vortigaant mode that did look interesting although I'm fairly sure theres a PC mod for that as well

it has better graphics than the pc version tho.

Get Black Mesa instead.

always play the original version of any old game you haven't played

/thread

Play the Dreamcast version instead.

It plays just fine, it's a fairly decent port. Mind you I played it on PS2 before I did on PC so I could be biased, it's from ye olden days of Gearbox when they were good before Randy's sliminess infected the rest of the company.

PS2 version I think wasn't that bad, ran fine, had a co-op mode, I hear even had some fine changes to level design. Still, it should easily run on anything these days, it's not that demanding to run and it goes for dirt cheap on sale.

I have spoken.

Is that the hd pack?

No it doesn't. It's just the blue shift pack applied

the original in software mode

it has even more advanced models than the HD pack.
Better facial expressions too.

dreamcast models are very soulful.

incorrect. processing power isn't there. additionally, the levels are fucked up due to memory constraints, so it in no way looks better

souless

not better. it doesn't do the same lip syncing as pc version

i'd say play on the ps2 version just for the novelty

retard

I want to get it but I remember xen from the original which was by far the weakest part of the game, and I heard its the same in black mesa because it drags on forever
everything else looks kino tho and I havent played hl1 since like 2001 or something so I might bite the bullet

It works very well, it's a great port
The lock-on feature allows you to circle strafe enemies as if you were on M+KB

it's Half Life. Like it really matters.

That's pre-release, the soldier models were changed
They don't have animated eyeballs anymore (I don't know why they decided to do that)

>vortigaant mode
Isn't that like Point of View mod?

>ps2 version looks better
>HD texture is better too
you muh soul purists are retards

I'm considering doing a Valve replay too, OP. I'm gonna play HL1 on Manjaro through to DOTA2.

Except you play through the normal Half-Life campaign, yeah
You get damaged if you try to use the first aid stations; only way to get health back is to attack enemies and to claw their corpses lol

>purist
ultra hd models look like shit in the blocky brush based environments.

Xen lasts less than an hour in original Half-Life

Its a good port but still a downgrade so don't play it unless its your only option. It's hard to believe your laptop cant run halflife unless its like from 1995 or something.
