Smash 4 is the SpongeBob Season 4 of Smash. The game has no personality of its own. The only thing it ever had going for it was its roster, which was rendered obsolete by Ultimate. Meanwhile, 64, Melee, and Brawl are all unique and have reasons to play them besides their rosters.
4 should teach us all a lesson about how important soul is in video games.

>cartoon analogy
Cringe
The only people who still whine about this game are still coping that their moms wouldn't buy them a Wii U when they were 6.
And yet ultimate still finds ways to step back from it
I'm not whining about it. It's so forgettable it's not worth whining about. I'm just pointing out that it was soulless, and demonstrating why soul is important if you want to make a good game that leaves a lasting impression.
>analogy
Who the fuck over the age of 10 watches spongebob?
There are people who beleive smash 4 is unironically better than Ultimate. I wonder how long it will take for this to be the general consensus or if Ultimate will improve.
I'd argue Smash Run is a very good reason to play Smash 4 (3DS). It's still one of the best modes in the series. The Wii U version, sure you can make a point that it's not as needed.
>soulless
>Trying to act like Ultimate isn't soulless
Literally are you retarded?
Ultimate is also soulless. I never said it wasn't. If you look in the OP, I named 64, Melee, and Brawl as being the good ones.
Brawl is only good for modding( project+)
Brawl had the Subspace Emissary mode.
Which was trash.
Why does Yas Forums shill this game so hard? Sure it's "flashy" or whatever other zoomershit term you want to describe this as but do you really think getting combo'd to shit and dying off of one mistake is good game design?? If so you must have brain damage.
Smash Run is really the only thing it has going for it. Ultimate just feels like a better, tighter Smash 4 with more content.
because it's literally an enhanced port
They do think it's good game design.
The only people that want smash 4 back are pros that either played Bayo/Rosa/Olimar in it or those that weirdly enough miss the "technical aspect" (literrally just perfect pivot) but absolutely shat on the game's control when they last played it at Super Smash Con
Ultimate's main problem is the buffer system, but in every other aspect it shits on sm4sh
I think you mean the dragon ball gt of smash
Not him, but with Melee gameplay, sub space emissary could have been great. With Brawl gameplay though, the cutscenes ended up being the best part, which is sad for a SSB game.
>this faggot again
Casual Melee exists user. I’ve never done a wave dash in my life(I’ve probably accidentally l-canceled here and there) and I’ve only ever played Melee with friends and family. It’s an amazing game, your tourneyfag autist boogeyman isn’t going to change anything.
4 really is the worst one at this point. Brawl, for how retarded and broken it is, at least feels like it has a little something to offer that you can’t get in Melee or Ultimate. I still find the gameplay boring as fuck though.
>Ultimate fixed it
it's the same fucking game mate.
I didn't say Ultimate fixed it. I said it rendered Smash 4 obsolete.
The online for Ultimate is also worse. For Glory still had lag and everything, and you could only play on Omega stages, but since there wasn't the retarded rank system, you could likely play multiple matches against the same person and not worry about them dropping out because they wanted to stay in Elite Smash.
Also, Ultimate lobbys are fucking shit. I miss Smash 4's online tournaments.
I miss Yas Forums tourneys
>more content
?
Ultimate only has WoL and classic mode
WoL is padded out dogshit and classic mode is bland.
Smash 4 had an actually interesting classic mode, smash run/tour, a real all stars mode and master/crazy orders.
I report people who t bag for unsportsmanship. and I report people who team up on me since they always self destruct
cope
You mean adventure mode? That shit was fun. Too bad SSE was just a kirby super star spin off mode.
Doing a 3ds and wii u version is what ruined it. We basically had a wasted generation for smash.
Adventure was fun too.
yeah there is no real reason to ever go back to this game
What non-Wii Fit game prominently displays Wii Fit Trainer on its box art?
wii fit trainer is an abomination
If you're only playing casually why pick melee? What about it is an improvement over the other games? This is an honest question.
It has a smaller roster whether you buy into the "only three viable characters" meme or go hard the other way and play so totally casually that you can't see the issue with DK or GnW.
Most of the stages are either boring or clusterfuck with no in-between. Also, with no music switch, matches tend to feel a lot more samey from a cosmetic standpoint.
Temple is so fondly remembered because it was THE stage that struck a balance between clusterfuck and boring, and it's great. But the rest of Melee's stages, three (functionally) battlefields and one FD aside, are generally only worth it for novelty.
It probably has the best item balance but who unironically measures the games by item gameplay?
So, what does Melee have that draws you to it if you're not going for technical/competitive play?
>If you're only playing casually why pick melee? What about it is an improvement over the other games? This is an honest question.
Tighter controls and online that actually works and superior you don't have to pay for. Same with 64. Plus the items are fun without being overly obnoxious like they are in Brawl onward.
No trophies was easily the biggest sin ever committed by this series. At least smash 4 had that.
As fun as the Wii series of games were, I'm glad Wii Fit died along with everything with the word "Wii" on it. Ring Fit is a far better game.
Project Plus is dogshit lmfao
I guess I'm autistic then. No new smash game's controls have ever bothered me. I've done the dreaded "buffered airdodge" in Ultimate all of once in hundreds of hours of play, but Melee feels clunky to me in comparison.
