I think it's worth it. I just bought it and all the dlcs a few days ago.

The AI is challenging enough for a total noob to the TW series like me. I'm having a really tough time memorizing the army movement controls and getting a grasp of which units trump which.

There is not much ai to speak of, you make the game harder by giving ai pretty blatant and shitty cheats(straight stat bonuses and turning off game mechanics for it, the ai stays the same - retarded)
it's turbo overpriced as well, just pirate it if you want to look at grafics for 2 days until you get bored

I've just recently started to get into total war cause I already played pretty much everything else in the genre, but there's two things I don't get.

Now I like the battles themselves, they're loads of fun, but literally everything else outside of combat is barebones garbage, and apparently it's been that way since the start. How the fuck is there still a fanbase if literally every game is the exact same as the previous one with a new coat of paint?

And the other thing, how the fuck are people completely fine with every game being unfinished as fuck on release, the devs then selling DLC to add some stuff into the game, and then halfway through finishing the game they just move on and sell you a sequel, which still isn't finished?

The amount of jewry I've seen with this series is just as bad as paradox for fucks sake

I used to have this vile uncontrollable diarrhea where like once every day, out of fucking nowhere, the need to shit hit me so hard that I would damn near shit myself and I needed to reach the toilet immediately at mach 3.
