Started up this today. Hands down the most athmospheric shooter I have played in a decade. HIghly recommend

Haven't touched the franchise before this but really looking forward to it! All the characters have been great. A lot of soul in this game.

I loved the 1st and 2nd game when they came out, it got a lot of praise same with stalker because of the similarities not just in well yknow but also in the highest difficulty being the best one as it turns off your HUD and instead of makes the enemies bullet sponges makes them die in one hit, very cool

I am yet to touch the latest open world one, looks like shit

Oh yeah, the soul continues and lots of memorable characters as well that you truly get connected to. Exodus especially is so beautifully written, I’m excited for you to experience it. There’s a lot of Easter eggs in all these games that have little references to Russian pop culture of the late Soviet era. You can really tell the devs poured some of their own memories into it.

I guess I should have specified human enemy stealth. Creeping around with mutants running around you is way more interesting.

I love these games. I haven't played Exodus yet but can't wait to play it.

Oh and do what another user recommended and try to play with minimal hud, especially without crosshairs. Makes it so much more atmospheric and the crosshairs look ugly in some instances.

This is the main reason I dropped this game.

Just play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. it's a much better game and has much better atmosphere.

Make sure you get the DLCs for Exodus as well. The main campaign is great, but one of the DLCs called “Two Colonels” adds so much more impact to the ending that it makes it one of the most kino storylines in all media. Also the second DLC Sam’s Story is neat and has some really great moments in its own (like a part where you get drunk and listen to some Victory Tsoy on the radio with a retired navy captain).

I played a little bit but nothing felt quite right. Felt like I was playing Fallout 3 with weak guns.

One of the few games that kept me engaged from start to finish. I actually went out and bought the books.

This is incorrect. I actually prefer Exodus to Last Light. I’d say the pattern of quality for this trilogy is identical to STALKER’s.

If the Redux ruins the original game is there anywhere besides pirate sites where I can obtain the original? Was thinking of replaying it, soon.

What the fuck happened with all the spooky shit in Exodus? I want my ghosts, bizarre anomalies and actual fucked up cultist shit, not just "lmao feed the big fish".

There’s anomalies like electric demons and there’s even ghosts on an island full of dead bodies right at that Volga level. There’s also more paranormal stuff that happens towards the end. You have to explore a lot more in Exodus to find bits of lore and it’s also overall a more grounded experience that’s more about the characters and giving them a satisfying conclusion.
