Sword and Shield have also seen a big boost in launch sales compared to the DS and 3DS gens (except gen 5 in Japan which had a crazy big launch number but fell off quicker afterwards) to the point they've surpassed or reached their lifetime sales in the first couple months and it's likely they'll do lifetime numbers close to gen 2. It's just that New Horizons has been full-on insanity.
