The all have their unique personalities. Some might call them stereotypes, but honestly their personalities make them so great. Playing as Soldier (R.I.P) and rocket jumping and him spouting some random nonsense about America makes him 10 times better. Imagine if the whole cast didn't make any snarky remarks when they dominate someone? Game would've died a year or two in. Valve perfected their personalities, and that what makes them so great.

Gotta agree with user. They're ultimately stereotypes of their representative classes. And it's hilarious!

it's a "they are what they do" mentality, you see a lot of this in extremely stylized games. They're extremely flawed people, and their imperfection is easy to love.

e.g. scout's ego vs. his own skill at dodging and running, as well as the fact that he cares for Ms. Pauling
soldier's patriotism vs. his hilarity (covering himself in honey and wrestling a bear)
pyro's insanity vs. his twisted version of love
demoman's lack of sobriety vs. his ability to hold several jobs
heavy's stupidity when he's enjoying himself
engineer's inactivity vs. calm demeanor
Medic's insanity and disregard to his patients vs. his ability to innovate in medical science
Sniper's better-than-you attitude that he only mutters to himself vs. his unmatched skill
Spy looks down on the rest of the cast even though he cares about them

each member of the cast is unique in their own way, with very little overlap in how they carry themselves, witch excellent voice work done to really distinguish each class

The cast is really easy to like because they're so well designed and fleshed out

They take a stereotype, go all the way with it, then subvert it and flesh it out
None of their voice lines or interactions with one another feels out of place or unneccesary.

no woman

No women.

No women

They dont take themselves too seriously. All unique personalities that people can assign their own traits too. lovable goofy killers.

none of them were made by women or gays

GOD DAMMIT WHY COULDNT WE GET THE ADULT SWIM SHOW
IT DIDNT EVEN NEED TO BE A SERIES! JUST ONE ANIMATION A YEAR WOULDVE BEEN COOL

b-b-based

The characters aren't afraid to be "insulting" stereotypes, but at the same time they weren't made intentionally crass. Instead, fun was hard baked into every aspect of their design and personality and the wild exaggerations were used to make them distinctive and instantly identifiable by sound design alone. In a word, they have SOUL.

god. it’s so sad seeing the game slowly die because of being abandoned by valve.

I think it would be best not to adept a video game into a TV series.

>heavy's stupidity when he's enjoying himself
You kinda missed the mark on him. Heavy is funny because he comes across as big, stupid thug but he's also one of the more philosophical members of the bunch.

Aww, that's apples mate

Honestly, TF2 is a mastercraft in its presentation. 9 classes all with a useful function, a timeless artstyle, and unique personalities that are still enjoyed 13 years later.

the fact that murdering each other is like a 9-5 office job, complete with a fuckin break room and time card clock in/clock out system always gets me.

It's a very Loony Tunes vibe, especially those cartoons with the sheepdog and the wolf who were buds whenever they weren't on the clock.

I think in any game where characters are really important, seeing them outside of the context of the game just being themselves is really important. Voicework and animation work are really important too as the way someone talks and articulates their movement can say slot. Basically what im saying is that the Meet the Team videos went a long way in giving these guys character.

>medic
he's not completely insane, he's just a sociopath with low morale
>spy looking down on the rest
Also being a horrible father figure
The Administrator and Ms. Pauling technically count as part of the cast.

It's because they really don't give a shit whether you like them or not, which only serves to make them more genuine and full of character, which makes them more likeable. If any character in Trannywatch had a "Thanks" voiceline that said "I didn't need yer help, ya know?" like the Demoman does, all the trannies would piss their pants through their gashes.

Miss Pauling is the worst one funnily enough

>father figure
You mean father

>a "Thanks" voiceline that said "I didn't need yer help, ya know?"
Honestly, ungrateful prickery goes a long way towards character. Quite a few For Honor characters have a revive line that's some variation of them angrily grunting "Don't touch me!" or "I'm fine, okay?!" and it's much more amusing than every single character being reasonable or amicable.

no women

I'm dead serious. The lack of women lets you avoid so many possible conflicts.

They're all morbid, supposed to hurt each other and the playerbase's feelings. Nowadays writers need to write in such a way that doesn't offend people.

This, each and every one of them unique and well developed, from the writing to the voice acting, even the jokes and one liners are phenomenal.
also this

I REALLY DONT WANT TO DERAIL THE THREAD BUT IS THE GAME SAFE TO PLAY? EVEN WITH THE OFFICIAL TWEETS AND CREATORS.TF PUTTING THEIR SERVERS BACK ONLINE IM STILL FUCKING PARANOID BROS.

>characters with varied designs and personalities
>dark humor without being outright edgy
