How do you feel about artists who use a console specific retro look? Would you play an entire game designed to look like it was made for the PlayStation or Sega Saturn?
How do you feel about artists who use a console specific retro look...
yes.
PS1/N64 3D graphics give me an intensely comfy vibe
No, those looked like shit.
I love low poly.
Yes, I'm ready for retro to move on to this look.
>song isn't ps1 quality
5/10
requires actual skill to put together anything longer than a trailer. I doubt souless indie game makers can do it.
It's a little ironic that the idea of that game not having modern graphics and voice acting perfectly demonstrates that when you look at it purely as a game it's absolutely terrible
game?
poly art is true art, pixel is for low iq retards
what about the pre rendered shit
i have only seen it been done in TSA
youtube.com
look at risk of rain 2. Can still look good and you can push some taxing shit.
I wouldn't mind a game going further back too. Bad graphics can be more immersive.
Most have no fucking clue what constitues the style, here's a breakdown of it besides being "pixelated lowpoly"

it will NEVER EVER move on to this look 3D assets are much harder to do FACT
The problem is that kind of graphical style would still require a large amount of work/money that's out of reach of the vast majority of indie devs.
most indie games are shit and most just wanna look nice so they atleast try
How about wireframes?
oh my god
Could you try that again but in English?
gramps...
For me it's gotta be wii/ps3 visuals it's what I grew up on after all.
Racing Lagoon
Indie games are shit and all they want is to look good so they will pay the price
Parasite eve
What genre would you most want to see done in this style? Horror? Platformer? Comfy adventure like Chulip or Chibi Robo?
Basically, what's a kind of game you wish there were more of on the PlayStation or Sega Saturn or Nintendo 64
I have a little pool of talent and a nice sum of cash and I might consider producing something that looks like this
I think that a game with 240p graphics with the lines integer scaled to get as close to filling the screen as possible would look best, and fit perfectly on the Switch's 720p display and 1440p and 4K monitors
I played A Short Hike recently after getting it for free off the epic store and it was pretty great. Cute little game that uses a retro 3d look that is somewhat reminiscent of animal crossing for ds. It's pretty good and I'd recommend it to anyone
I always feel like that's why games back then were so much better, graphics outside of SoulCalibur were equally dogshit. So devs had to spend all of their budget on making it as good as possible, simply to be successful
It always has been and always will be about marketing. Glover is horrible and it sold amazingly
SOUL. SOUL. SOUL.
Wtf is this
