The brutes were pushovers in general in Halo 3, it was actually kind of disappointing. In halo 2, they could really tear you apart. To be fair, 2 was a lot harder than 3 overall, but besides the jackals and the brutes, the changes weren't too extreme.
Halo 3 made them replacement elites, but with shittier taunts.
Chieftain fights in ODST scared the shit out of me though. The combination with drums kicking in got me pumped.
2 were way too spongy.
You could only really kill them with a carbine or a BR.
A nice middle ground would be nice
Agreed, halo 2 could've really benefited if any non-precision weapons were actually decent. I'm doing a runthrough in halo 1 right now where I only use the plasma pistol on legendary without dying, and it's tough but more than doable. I wouldn't even touch any of the other games trying that, though.
Brutes in 3 just couldn't match up to the Elites from the previous games. It's sort of a shame since I like them as enemies and a race on their own.
I always hated those generic ogre fucks.
I wish ODST had elites instead of brutes.
This.
brutes and prophets are a big step down in the design compared to the original CE covenant.
Monkeys in power armor isnt that cool compared to the shiny reptilian knights.
Because Bungie gave them too much health in Halo 2.
>barracks fights with the chieftains using gravity hammers
At least in the beginning. They really fucked up with that mistake, it should've taken more time for the brutes to betray the elites on delta halo, never mind on earth.
They were just using the skeleton of Halo 3 so they were always gonna have the Brutes be the main foes, that moment with the dead Elites was basically just there to be a nod to Halo 2's story.
My main problem with Halo is flood levels and they're always terrible. Reach and ODST are the best games for just fighting the ayylmao niggers.
>reach
That campaign is shit.
I want to know more about ODST when it was called Recon. Seemed like an entirely different idea if I can remember correctly.
Some levels are trash like the first and the space combat but it's a good game.
Huh? I recall it being pretty much the same, just with a different name. And people thought that if you'd find all the skulls in ODST, you'd unlock recon in halo 3.
>be me
>eleven or ten years old
>playing firefight with my older brother
>eventually got so good at assassinating chieftains that he'd just call me over to deal with them.
ODST was a fun game.
*spots you*
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
Flood levels and the arbiter levels were always my favorite
I don't understand why people hate them so much
except for the library I can see why it's disliked
>Spots you
>"Ahhh, lohbaba!"
What did they mean by this?
If they kept the fur and upped the "Space tribal" aesthetic they can be pretty cool.
Firefight was only good in ODST and barely anyone played it in Reach. ODST's firefight actually felt like its maps were designed for it where as Reach just felt shoed in.
>A nice middle ground would be nice
I thought Reach's were pretty good in that regard, just wish they looked more like 2's with the fur.
>That Elite design
I really admire the aesthetic but I can't help but feel like the next picture in that album he's got his dick out.
Arbiter levels are great and 3 where the elites drop in to help fight flood is awesome but the flood turn a good sci fi shooter into a generic zombie shooter.
>that kino Chieftain duel where his pack stands back and lets you 1v1 if you dont attack them
Just the flat version
Was that in the barracks or the ops center?
at the cartographer with the jetpack brutes

FOR THE GREAT JOURNEY
That was a great fight
HOly hell, this was a thing?
ODST and Reach are both the worst Halo games.
I wish Bungie didn't try so hard to balance all the fucking weapons
I used to really enjoy Reach but now it pisses me off, how the fuck did Bungie release the game with the Focus Rifle, Spiker, Concussion Rifle, and plasma launcher being utterly useless?
Why the fuck doesn't the needler stick to shields?
I also wish the Plasma Rifle stunned like it did in Halo CE
The grenade launcher is pretty garbage too.
Also fuck Bloom, I only like it on the AR because the spread has always been terrible.
This
I almost feel sorry for artists that sell work by commission on the internet and the shit they put up with for a buck.
I mean plenty of people take it up the ass day in and day out in a soul crushing wage slave existence, but holy fuck at least you don't have to use your creative energy to draw diaper-fur fetish shit for brain damaged weirdos because they'll dump all of their neetbux into making you degrade yourself worse than a day-shift stripper.
Holy shit! Thats so fucking cool!
>The grenade launcher is pretty garbage too.
That was one of the best weapons if you had half a brain though?
>saying this when 343 ruined Halo with 4 and 5
There's actually alot of mouments like this throughout the entire series, little pasteches that play out if you do an encounter right
btw in Halo 2 "Regret" the gondola platform you fight the hunters on that entire part of the map is an optical illusion and if you croutch by the knocked over podium it transforms the entire segment into a popup shootout among other things
In multiplayer it is decent
I've been trying to use it in firefight and it was taking multiple EMPs to down Jackal shields
So why did they take out the assault rifle in 2? Why'd they make the assault rifle shit in Reach by reducing the mag size?
What?
Can you show an example? I'm super curious.
the AR in 2 is the SMG, it even has the same stats, it was made an SMG for duel wielding
>So why did they take out the assault rifle in 2?
Replaced by SMG
>Why'd they make the assault rifle shit in Reach by reducing the mag size?
They aren't great with balancing.
>in reach
>by reducing the mag size
Not in reach they didn't, that was in 3.
Although they did cut the ROF in reach.
Shoot around the shield, most weapons on Heroic amd Legendary are kinda suck with Gold Skulls on
>flood levels
>always terrible
No my dude.
Beating library for the first time made me feel like a 100% certified badass.
>people think the H3 Magnum is shit
>they dont know you're supposed to use it while strafing and not while running forwards
4 and 5 were repairable and 343 gets less flack because they only made 2 major Halo games, meanwhile, Bungie is responsible for one of the greatest trilogies in gaming shit out two stinkers. Sorry but I'm not giving Bungie the benefit of the doubt here, they knew better.
there's Step Aside, Let The Man Go Through in halo 2
The SMG in 2 unironically fills its roll far better than the Assault Rifle in any other incarnation.
It was the perfect arena start weapon.
