Portal 3

Why the fuck is this not coming? What the fuck is wrong with Valve? I've been replaying all their games, and they're fantastic, what happened?

I need more brainy games like Portal, I replayed both games (had completely forgotten the solution to everything, amazingly enough, but made for a second play that was just as good as the first), and now I'm fucking addicted to solving shit like a lab monkey.

Fucking help me. I need more.

>that mysterious original concept for Portal 2 with completely different puzzle mechanics that got shelved for a direct sequel because the playtesters wanted more portals
>been waiting for Valve to announce it as their new game for nearly a decade
>turns out it got unceremoniously "revealed" last year
>you take objects from around the room and make things bigger or smaller
Kinda disappointing.

Portal 2 was a mistake.

I'd recommend Talos Principle (and it's expansion afterward, if you like) to tide you over if you haven't played it already.

WAT

>you take objects from around the room and make things bigger or smaller
wat

Why? It's great. The comedy is fun as fuck, GlaDos is great, the game itself is rad as hell. I want more of that stuff.

I haven't, but I have studied philosophy at university level and I am afraid to be confronted with shit philosophy that would upset me. Should I still get the game? Is the Stanley Parable a puzzle game too?

No need for Portal 3. Portal 2 is already stretched copy of Portal 1. Only way is use Portal gun as part of Half Life like FPS.

The majority of the story is told via text on computer consoles that are 99% optional to dig through. Dunno about Stanley Parable.

>valve
>3

>No need for Portal 3.
Yes, need, definitely need. I and millions of others would very much like a Portal 3. Portal 2 doesn't feel stretched at all, it feels like a natural expansion of the original concept. I am certain they could find a way to make a great third installment. You just need to bring some new concepts and new puzzles. That shit never gets old.

>Portal 3
>you are now GlaDos and must fortify your base against Combine invasion: traps, turrets, etc

basically Orcs Must Die but with GlaDos and Shell. That'd be great.

spat coffee all over the place

Talos is a great Portal-like game. You don't need to pay attention to the philosophy if you don't want to.
And The Stanley Parable isn't a puzzle game, but I liked it. It's a walking simulator with a funny narrator.

I would love more Aperture-based puzzle games. F-Stop, a Portal prequel where you play as an Olympic athlete in the '50s with the enormous old portal gun on your back, and a sequel with more of Atlas and P-Body.

I want a CAVE JOHNSON management game.

>portal
>brainy game

It's probably going to be another shitty VR game anyways

Good ideas. My point is there is not need for Portal 3 if it would be another Portal 2.

>I have studied philosophy at university level
why?
was it worth it?

OK, name a brainy game, that's what I want.

Why not? I'd replay Portal 2 any day.

SHENZHEN I/O

It was my third subject, not my primary field. I love philosophy, that's why. I hated the classes, though. It was more history of philosophy than philosophy and I wasn't ready anyway.

I just want a few more puzzle mechanics, a bunch of Valve-quality puzzles, and the boost to community puzzles a new game would generate.

That looks boring as fuck. Also more programming than riddles/puzzles, or am I wrong?

Fair enough, maybe Infinifactory or factorio?

I liked Factorio, but they aren't exactly puzzles the way I want. I want very clear riddles to solve, like Portal has.

I also adore walking simulators, maybe you guys can recommend some to me. Here's what I played already:

>Ethan Carter
>Edith Finch
>Esther
>Bottle (utter shite)
>Firewatch
I'm interested in Rapture and some game about a murder whose title I forgot.

Would Wheatly really have helped had he been installed?
Will he ever come back with Space Core?

portal 3 wouldn't be vr exclusive

how would they bring chell back for it?

I mean the idea was that the size would change based on your perspective, the demo that was shown off allowed you to manually adjust the size and that sort of takes the puzzle out of it

Check out Superliminal, it's an indie game inspired by F-Stop that far more cohesively shows how the concept is supposed to work and expands on it

Legend of Grimrock 1 and 2 have a lot of puzzles / riddles.

I can't into fantasy anymore. Orcs Must Die was all I could tolerate.

It doesn't need to be Chell. Portal 2 was originally going to have a different protagonist.
