Okay, so here's how it works. If you buy a specific license from Valve, they give you access to their dev tree in a special branch that has pretty much all of their dev shit. Full source code level access to Source and all of their games. The caveat to this is that it's VERY expensive, and you need to have verifiable credentials to get into it. Titanfall 2's devs got in it, for example, which is how they got Source and were able to modify it into this totally different thing from the original.

People try to come in all the time, and when people somehow amass the money to get in they still get turned away because it turns out they aren't devs at all, just people like Tyler trying to get in and leak shit. There was a leak a few years back on Facepunch of a bunch of assets from this build that had big ramifications for devs who wanted to legitimately use this tree.

Likewise, this leak is gonna shake things up fucking tenfold.
