I think the writers initially wanted you to realize that the cult were right but at the last minute threw in a bunch of Saturday morning cartoon bad guy shit (the angels) because they didnt have the guts. Joseph never says anything unreasonable and he literally quotes the Bibles verses on the apocalypse as it happens to the second, all the hallucination sequences dont demonstrate hubris or egotism on his part they just ask the player wtf they're doing over and over. Far Cry Five could have had a unique point but ubishit just couldnt follow through on it because of fear of backlash. Pisses me off so much.
