Better not spoil my games next time, Yas Forums.
Spoil ending of a game
They are legally within the right, "fair use" doesn't protect people from that, and anybody who claims otherwise doesn't actually know what fair use is.
>NO NO NO THE TIME JANNIES AREN'T WORKING TO RESTORE THE WORLD SO PEOPLE DIDN'T KNOW FF7R'S ENDING
>"ah so, we need to use the time rawyers instead, hmm?"
>"covering" games as if he's a reporter
This is just Square getting butthurt about people rightfully lambasting their shit ending. They just want the opportunity to scam more people into buying it while being none the wiser
I really doubt there's a single respectable court in the world that will rule that it's illegal to talk about the ending of a fucking video game online and post clips from it.
I'd argue against this if they didn't turn the share function off for the finale.
These same people cry their eyes out when someone spoils the latest trendy movie for them.
>Material Usage License
so what, a EULA? Everyone with a brain knows those don't mean jackshit in court
based but bluepilled
I hope these useless fucks get sued the hell out of them, and they have to find a real job.
literally who?
Talk about it? Sure. But posting clips from it is easily the same as posting clips from a movie.
The game industry allows people to do this generally anyways out of generosity, despite the fact that they are absolutely within their legal rights to take them down. Just because lots of people take advantage of this exception doesn't mean that they are legally within their rights to do so. 99% of the video game content on the internet would be taken down overnight if their creators actually enforced it, they just choose not to as it is generally beneficial for them not to.
Don't get me wrong, this is still an ass-retarded move on squeenix's part, but a completely legally justified one.
Fuck Shirrako
Square Enix and Atlus are stuck in 2010 or earlier in relation to streams/play throughs..
it's not remotely the same since posting the ending to a movie likely means you illegally recorded it in a movie theater, while people posting the endings to games likely bought the game.
These people just take cutscenes and upload them with ad revenue? Seeing them banned is hilarious.
snape kills dumbledore
That Shirrako is a massive faggot so he kinda deserves it.

So if I buy a movie digitally, I can just upload it to youtube while pasting 'FAIR USE' everywhere by that logic?
It's absolutely illegal to post clips from any game online if the company doesn't want you doing it. They let it slide mostly for the free publicity, but if they want to use their legal right to stop you so you don't upload clips of the ending they definitely can. You'd lose any legal case if you're retarded enough to try to fight it.
What they can't stop you from doing is talking about the ending. So if you're mad at Sony striking your videos you can just blank out the screen for the final section and talk about what a shit show it is.
Corporate boot lickers like you are the worst people
>mmmhmm yes Square Enix please violate people's rights and engage in vexatious litigation against anyone that ticked yes on a EULA that is not legally binding in anyway, mhhhmmmm yes this gets me so hard etc etc
Go upload a part of a movie you bought a copy of to youtube and tell me how long it lasts.
It's not the same, because you're not uploading the full game to Youtube.
Based but at the same time its kinda SE faukt for not sticking to their guns and releasing it on March.
based retard
>These people just take cutscenes and upload them with ad revenue?
Yeah, they basically rush through the game as fast as possible and then upload all the cutscenes as "movie".
It's not the EULA, it's US copyright law. Nobody is licking any boots here, they're just stating literal facts for clueless retards like you.
most company let people do lets plays and stream because it drives sales; you dont get the right to post other peoples intellectual property online because you bought a copy for your own private use
they literally aren't violating anybody's rights. That is the thing.
do you really want me to go on Youtube and find the hundreds of thousands of movie clips. I mean shit, do you know how many videos there are of the Endgame ending?
>muh let's play
get a job
