Defend this
Dragon that instantly kills you without warning
the death was the warning, don't do it again
Dying is a rite of passage in a first time playthrough of Dark Souls. Now stop being a whiny nigger and enjoy an action RPG gem.
i don't think any of those things actually oneshot you
Ds2 is better
>dragon that instantly kills you without warning
By that point in the game you should be on edge at all times and know that something is up when you see that long bridge and know that you need to make a quick escape by running down the stairs. You also have time to bug out as soon as you hear the Wyvern's scream.
>mimic that instantly kills you without warning
Mimic chests slightly move and overall look different, and again you should always be on the lookout for a trap in Dark Souls
>Seath that instantly kills you without warning
That is a scripted death and does not count towards total death totals for the player.
>mimic that instantly kills you without warning
in dark souls 1, there's a warning. the chain on the chest is different, and using a talisman opens the mouth.
>dragon that instantly kills you without warning
it's a drake, and there's plenty of fucking warning
>Seath that instantly kills you without warning
there's offline floor messages telling you "death imminent"
no, ds2 is the worst in the series. bad combat and soul mem.
its ok to die
Deaths aren't that big of a deal, with plentiful humanity, souls, and ways to mitigate or avoid curses. Even recovering from huge losses isn't that time consuming in the grand scheme of things
>By that point in the game you should be on edge at all times and know that something is up when you see that long bridge and know that you need to make a quick escape by running down the stairs.
What indicator is their that you should be expecting dragon fire from behind you?
>that you need to make a quick escape by running down the stairs.
You can't open that door at that point unless you picked the master key
>there's plenty of fucking warning
Like what?
There's no warning for the first mimic and you lose all your souls when Seath kills you.
>You can't open that door at that point unless you picked the master key
You take the underbridge route to the room with the rats.
>Like what?
gee, like earlier in the level there's this huge drake that flies around like "SSSCCCCRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" and lands in front of you like "IM GOING TO BE AROUND AFTER THIS" and you can see him flying in the sky before he breathes fire.
>There's no warning for the first mimic
yeah there is, the two things I said.
>and you lose all your souls when Seath kills you.
offline soapstone message. there's a spell that shows them.
>What indicator is their that you should be expecting dragon fire from behind you?
You see a long open space in a Souls game you expect bad shit to happen.
You defend being bad first
>yeah there is, the two things I said.
You're not looking for those signs before getting tricked the first time. There is no warning beforehand that a chest can or will attack you.
maybe you're not, because you kick the door down like a faggot. where's the artificial difficulty comic?
i don't see why i have to
The dragon will kill you before you can get there
>You see a dragon once earlier in the game therefore you should know that it will attack you from behind in this one specific location
ok retard
That's not true at all, but even if it was, how do you expect a new player to know that?
>>dragon that instantly kills you without warning
Scorch marks on the bridge, plus you see him earlier on the smaller bridge
>>mimic that instantly kills you without warning
You can see them breathing plus the chains are pointing the opposite direction
>>Seath that instantly kills you without warning
Intended for the story so not an argument
>Defend this
Git gud
yeah, DS needs QTE segments.
Do you live under a rock?
Do you know absolutely nothing about the reputation of games you play?
When Dark Souls came out people were already familiar with Demon's Souls difficulty, which is no push-over itself.
Then you've got the overall initial difficulty of getting to the point in the game where you've probably probed here and there into the graveyard or undead burg and got your ass handed to you, so you finally beat Taurus Demon and then come across that bridge you should think about what you're about to do and your way out if shit goes sideways.
To top all of this off you will not actually die if you have decent armor and have your shield up when the wyvern fire hits you the first time.
>When Dark Souls came out people were already familiar with Demon's Souls difficulty, which is no push-over itself.
Tons of people played Dark Souls without knowing Demon's Souls even existed
>To top all of this off you will not actually die if you have decent armor and have your shield up when the wyvern fire hits you the first time.
You're not going to know when the fire is coming your first time, there's no way for the player to know, that's my point!
If you don't have your shield up in that zone in your first playthrough as a newb then you need to just git gud and pay more attention.
>faggots arguing that you could have easily noticed the drake wich is why everyone died to them the first time
>inb4 "I didnt die to drake"
Yes you did die unless you played Demon Souls and remembered the Drake Bridge there you would have no real clue that a Drake was coming to kill you out of nowhere
>Huh? You're not a psychic capable of knowing when future spontaneous attacks are going to happen? lol you just need to git gud
I used a trainer
I didn't die because the hair raised on the back of my neck seeing that long open space, so I dashed across it with my shield up and managed to get to the stairs after surviving the initial hit.
I know OP is baiting but where did this sense of "If I fail even once on my first time playing means this game is bad"
I didn't die but it was still pretty bullshit. If you live it it is can be a cool experience. I you do die then it absolute BS. I love DS1 and have beaten it many times, but there is no defence for a lot of this kind of shit
I didn't die, I got torched but somehow I survived
It's not bait. Trial and error is a shit mechanic.
Oh no, not your souls! The thing you can get infinite amounts of by killing enemies for a few minutes
If you're carrying around more souls than it takes to level up a couple times while you explore a new area, youre a dumbass
>A few cheap deaths in a 50+ hours game
I think you'll live
>Dragon appears before you get to his encounter proper
>The ground where he attacks you is burnt
>Mimic is a chest in a dungeon of nothing but traps, chest is also EXTREMELY out of place in the room compared to literally all other chest placement in the game
>Seath is a supposed to lose fight
