Commander, are you really starting a new game without Iron Man mode enabled?

Bradford, you all just forced me into this job.
I'm a brainlet and you made me do this.
It's for your own benefit that I can bronzeman this shit.
Im just here for the snek boobers.
Literally the only sole reason I'm buying the new XCom is because of snek tits.
shut the fuck up bradford
Central, I've seen things you wouldn't believe. Missed crucial 98% shots. Rookies panicking and critting my best guy. Vipers pulling someone and triggering another pod. All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain. Time to reload.
>watching a sniper miss two consecutive 95% shots against an enemy from high ground
>watching your squad get torn apart by chryssalids because of this
It was better when acceptable losses were simply inevitable. Sure it's more meaningful when you lose a member but that's not Xcom and it still doesn't matter when you have 2-3 teams of guys.
The remakes are fucking stellar games but it definitely feels weird that a United Nations backed project is limited to 70 soldiers total. Soldiers should be dropping constantly and totally replaceable. Makes more sense for the tone of the second one though
The UN can't afford to run their elevators
when my retard soldiers run out into the middle of the street instead of behind cover because the game glitches out during a movement order i aint gonna let that bullshit slide
there are too many glitches and fuckups in the game to make it worth playing ironman
>instruct your soldier to run into cover approximately four squares up the street
>tfw you watch helplessly as your soldier runs behind themself, directly into thin men gas, then through an enemies line of sight triggering overwatch
>The remakes are fucking stellar
This board is a pit full of dogshit and people feasting on it
>firaxis devs saw this comic and thought to themselves: hehe next game will have playable snake this shit will print us money
I don't enable iron man, but that is just to protect against crashes/major bugs. I've had runs deleted by crashes before. I generally don't reload games unless I had a major bug or a crash
If a game demands near perfection from the player then the player gets to demand near perfection from the game. XCOM isn't at that level.
NO SOUP FOR YOU.
I would, Bradford. But the save system in modern xcom games is faulty at best.
>soldier steps out one square too far due to UI bug
>pulls a new pod through a wall
>gets probed through the ass
>have to spend a month going through chumps trying to roll assault because that was the last one
>new guy now needs months of training to get all the perks
Fuck you, Bradford, I'm not falling for your tricks.
>not having at least three backups of every class
What the fuck are you doing
YOLOing assaults, that's how you use them, right?
But seriously, you always end up with a hole in the roster early on, because hiring more than 4 people is a waste of money you could be spending on satelites.
>play Iron Man
>deep into campaign
>Really hard mission
>My dog jumps on my lap and causes me to misclick my sniper out of full cover in the middle of the battlefield
>master sargeant Squadwipe
Never again.
yep, that's something the original definitely has over the nu xcom games. taking 14 guys into a mission, ranging from super high accuracy chads, to absolute retards with nothing but high bravery who only have the job of walking out the ship door first.. losses are expected, and accounted for. in nuxcom if someone dies it feels like such a ridiculous setback
>no plan b or c
You only have yourself to blame.
I'm too bad at video games to play on ironman mode, please forgive me bradford.
I blew so many playthroughs wasting money buying soldiers just so I could get them from cool nation's
Canonically Xcom lost, don't feel bad
>Warlock kicks my ass repeatedly through the course of the campaign.
>Finally do the stronghold assault for him
>Warlock gets executed by a Support on overwatch the very instant he spawns.
RNGsus may taketh, but sometimes, he really does giveth too.
>Canonically Xcom lost, don't feel bad
Then why was so much effort put into saving the commander for XCOM 2? Canonically you're a loser who failed, why would they expect you to succeed this time?
I had something similar happen with the Hunter in my most recent playthrough. He was harassing me for ages and just so happened to spawn with Adversary: Templar this time around. Made the really big mistake of grappling right within my max focus Templar's movement range. It wasn't an OHKO because he'd already taken a hit or two but god DAMN it was so satisfying.
Iirc Xcom fell during the base defense. Given that the base defense is about half way through the game, you were doing a pretty good job up to that point.
Yes, and I WILL reload my save if the game pulls any bullshit.
Kinda. From the sound of things, the base defence happened way earlier in the XCOM 2 canon than it did in-game. Devs have stated that XCOM never even got laser weapons before they lost.
That reminds me of my first encounter with the Warlock. It was on a crashed UFO mission. My hacking specialist was inside the UFO and had just finished completing the objective, so I placed him on overwatch so I could move everyone else in close and then attack warlock next turn. Warlock decided to preempt me and sprinted inside the UFO and started his monologue. My specialist turned to him and executed him like he was nothing, it was the funniest shit. Then I had to sit there and wait for him to finish his monologue before he transitioned into his monologue about being defeated, then the mission ended. What an anti-climax.
What the fuck did I just watch?
Or maybe the commander was so good that he never needed laser weapons to begin with
I never bother with lasers desu. Waste of resources + cash, just hold out a little bit and go straight to plasma, same thing with armor, skip carapce and just do skeleton
your game is far too buggy for that but I will play honestly I swear
First xcom thread I've seen on Yas Forums in years
There's been a few for the past week now that Chimera Squad has been announced. I'm just glad this one hasn't devolved into snek fucking yet.
It's coming and it won't be the only thing.
