This board long lost its appeal for 3 reasons: Board split, TORtanic, and GG.

Before /vg/, Yas Forums was 60% generals and you ALWAYS see them in the first 5 pages (this was before catalog) and it got out of hand. Same goes for pokemon spam (imagine smash spam but lasts more than a week). When the boards split up, so do most discussions, therefore tons of shitposting/off-topic threads became more and more apparent which leads to even more shitposting cause its EPIC XDDD. This leads to TORtanic

TORtanic was the first time Yas Forums ever felt vindicated after an extreme shitposting campaign against SWTOR. A piece of shit MMO with a piece of shit fanbase that used to be a menace on Yas Forums (Biodrones) until ME3 and MEA killed them off for good. When SWTOR turned F2P, this board went on an uproar claiming victory and shit. The irony here is that SWTOR succeeded because it went F2P but that's a different story. What happened here was Yas Forums's first taste of blunder so they wanted to mimic it over and over and over until it sticks. Games like FO76 and Anthem are not TORtanic because nobody defended them and it was expected to fail. The last time we ever had a true mimic of TORtanic was DmC (Star Citizen might even be bigger than TORtanic if it ever releases and fucks that up). Now take the mindset of tortanicfags and the off-topic spammers, now mix it with the newfags that came after GG

I don't need to recap GG, this shit was pretty much the nail in the coffin for this board's integrity. By 2015, newfags became the majority of the board and the 2016 election only accelerated it. This is why moot left btw

tl;dr this board went to shit a long ass time but got even worse 5 years ago. You can actually get meaningful discussion on /mlp/ far more articulated than the average Yas Forumsermin. Originality is foregin while a board like Yas Forums still manages to crank out OC. Sure most of them are shit but they atleast try

Nah, that hasn't been possible for a very long time. Don't get me wrong, you can still find the odd thread here and there that actually talks about video games, but that's the exception and not the rule.
